The spell is in the Warriors of Chaos book, can't find it listed online but got this bit from the 1d4chan tactics page. " If you roll 11 or 12 for the strength, it’s Strength 10 and does 3D6 hits"
The spell is unreliable as it's one of the stronger ones but he was always lucky to pull off the spell.

I have the WoC rulebook so just looked it up. Jeeez.

How was he spamming it though? Per the BRB he can only cast once per phase...

Unless my mind is going crazy but all I keep thinking how he casted it more than once per turn. Unless my mind mashed all the phases together as it was about 5 years ago. Then I never had the rulebook, still haven't now, he had the rulebook and I was new at the game, so not sure if he was cheesing it, or never saw that part.
The only guy who will know is the old store manager, depends if he still works at the place he moved to, which is another game store. He will probably give me tips how he is a fan of the Elves.
Do want to go there at one point to browse possible conversion stuff.

He was definitely cheating if he was casting it multiple times a turn!!!

Well, whenever you have your list, give me a shout and I'll give whatever advice I can think of.

Speaking about lists… today I'm gonna write a couple of lists for Necrons. Saturday I'll be back to REAL games! :woot:

On this forum in the General Hobby Chat thread? I'd be interested to see them as the 9th Edition release for them looks so promising

The challenge ATM is to make a list as strong as possible, not only without recurring to the usual "Nihilakh spearhead detachment: lord + 3 doomsday ark" and / or "Sautekh air wing detachment: 3 Doom Shythes"... but with no "Doom" at all.
So as main hitter I'm designing a fast group of death: 6 tomb blades, 5+1 Destroyers, 5+1 Destroyers, Kriptek and Command Barge w res. Orb.
I'm pondering the possibility to make it a Nephrek dynasty… in this way the kriptek can keep up without having to pick the canoptek cloak, and so i can give it the chronometron for the 5+ bubble inv.

Interesting that multiple units of Destroyers are more viable in 8th, because in 5th and 6th Destroyers are so expensive for 1-wound models that you can't really afford to have more than 1 unit, or else your army will become too small and suffer too much from the loss of your Destroyers (I actually only found this out when I played with my Space Marine-fan uncle last summer).

I'm looking forward to seeing what they do to boost units like Lychguard in 9th, because those chaps deserve some love again.

I might ask my current store manager, he might remember. I think he was around when 8th was still a thing in stores.
At the moment in my Dark Elves army it's mainly Corsairs as the core, with the Dreadlord on Dragon, Hydra, Cold Ones. Got some other stuff.
I have to do 6th edition lists first, and the Elves are weaker in that edition.
I actually did get my own back when we did a game of AoS. Dread Saurian. Wiped out a unit of ten. He hated it.

Meanwhile for what I done for hobby today, the slow process of painting the exposed muscles on the Dire Wolves, got 8 to go and then to the next set of highlights all over again.

Even while working on other projects, the gears are turning on how to make the skaven version of TF2's Heavy Weapons Guy into a playable miniature for the tabletop (and no, I don't want this being another stormfiend). My immediate thoughts go towards using a blood bowl rat ogre with a stormvermin head as the base (evidently some comically 'roided-out skaven gunner with pinhead syndrome) and making use of a spare set of ratling cannon barrels I have left over from a previous stormfiend build.

ADDENDUM: skaven war machines seeing further progress. The Warp Lightning Cannon I assembled back in December is finally glued to the base and awaiting priming, and the Doomwheel is nearly ready to be painted in sub-assemblies.

On the subject of the Doomwheel, I went for a brief walk in the park today to find either a suitably-sized rock or rock-looking piece of bark for its base, the idea being that it's about to launch itself using the rock as a ramp. Couldn't find any suitable rocks, but this piece of bark looked about right for my purposes. Currently waiting for both the scenery glue and superglue to finish curing.

More work on the Doomwheel, or more accurately its base. Filled, sealed, and painted.

    Doomwheel partially assembled for demonstration.

Had a flash of inspiration, while inebriated, on how I'm planning to build the taurox primes for my Imperial Guard army, so I built up this bare-bones proof of concept for an automated turret.

    20200531_021946.jpg

I may in the future get a proper BMPT-style turret going with missile tubes on the side and the autocannons twin-linked and centerline, but that will be when I'm sober.

Yesterday i came back to real play after quarantine.

40k, my necrons vs a Guards army. Maelstrom

My list was an experiment, almost only "infantry".
Imotekh, a cryptek and 29 immortals
    2 x (5+1) destroyers, 6 tomb blades, command barge
    2 x 3 canoptek spiders, 6 canoptek wraiths, a criptek

facing a list with mixed stuff from vigilus and psychic awakening, 2 basilisks with master of ordnance, 4 leman russes (2 battle cannons and 2 demolishers), 4 units of scions with plasma that double the rapid fire shots and 2 tempestor prime (these ones in deep strike), 4+4 bullgryns, lord commissar, 1 heavy squad and 50 basic troopers.

What an epic battle, the guards took the first turn, tnx to placement i took just losed 2 destroyers (back with reanimation) and 4 wraiths (all back with reanimation and use of special orb artecact).
then i moved, killing 1 basilisk wiping away 30 troops and the heavy squad, linking in melee the second basilisk with my wraiths.

second turn, the scions arrived and the tanks start doing their work… wiping totally away both the destroyers units and the tomb blades, despite the inv. saves.

At that point i've played the objectives, concentrating the fire of the immortals on the scions.

it ended at the seventh turn (!), with me remaining with just imotekh, 2 wraiths and a cryptek, vs 3 russes and 10 troopers, 27 - 21 points, Necron victory.
In the last moments, my spiders were able to negate for 2 turns the fire of the 3 russes against my characters. :D

Got my 3D printed Carno in the mail!
A bit larger to fit on a 50x50 base, will have to sort it out.

Later on I will see if a Saurus will fit on top

Spent much of the day painting this shrike talon for my Corvus Cabal warband in WarCry.

Chaos Black primer, Grey Seer pre-shade, and the rest of the work was largely done using Seraphim Sepia, Agrax Earthshade, Drakenhof Nightshade, and Nuln Oil. The rock was done much like the one on the Doomwheel's base (Basilicanum Grey, Agrax Earthshade, drybrushed Mechanicus Standard Grey).

Due to it being nearly a year since my concussion, and I am almost fully returned to my normal working hours I thought to spoil myself with a visit to the semi-local GW tomorrow.

    Deciding on what to buy.

    Either
    - 2 or 3 Start Collecting boxes to boost the Start Collecting Box-off battles
    Or
    - Savage Orruk Morboys, Savag Orruk Boarboy Maniaks, Ironjawz Brutes and 1 Start Collecting Box.

    What do you guys think?
