    With the release of Warhammer: The Old World, it would probably be worthwhile for there to be a thread dedicated to building and discussing army lists for the game.

    Current List Building Resources:

    - Old World Builder - still under development but off to a promising start. In its current iteration it's a reasonably useful online tool for writing up rudimentary lists of the official factions at least.

    I'm still debating where I should consider throwing the remaining 25 points. As of the time of this post, Old World Builder hasn't included the option of giving a noble a battle standard, and as I'm still brushing up on my old understanding of point-costed magic items I'm not sure what else to add. At best it might require me to downgrade the archmage from a moon dragon (+230pts!) to a griffon (+130pts), flamespire phoenix (+170pts), or a frostheart phoenix (+205pts) just to have enough points to splurge on a couple of the more expensive magic items.

    Depending on the meta you're playing in, you may find that going 30-strong with the Orc Mobs (including attached characters) is not particularly practical, especially when that's going to amount to a unit that gets caught up in difficult terrain very easily (30mm bases get wide really quickly). With a minimum unit width of 5 models for rank bonuses to combat resolution, you can get away with just going with 20/unit instead.

    Same applies to the Black Orcs as well.

    On a similar note, a buddy of mine who's also readmitting minis from AoS to an Orcs & Goblins army has this currently planned for his list, bearing in mind that he's still tinkering around to add magic items:

    Just an update to my previous list, having learned a few things since posting and with the help of a rather timely update in the builder involving banner-bearing nobles and points changes in some areas.

    One of the big ones is that a High Elf character cannot take a mount if they have either the Loremaster or Warden of Saphery elven honours, so no dragon riders with Blades of Hoeth unfortunately. Other limitations revolve around mounts - I was previously considering a griffon or phoenix as alternatives for the moon dragon, only to find out that griffons are off the table for archmages, and pheonixes can only be taken as mounts if they have the Annointed of Asuryan elven honour. I may yet cave on that one for the odd game, but a moon dragon seems pretty on-point for a follower of Lileath.

    You'll want to either merge the Minotaur Herds or find a substitute for one of them. The Doombull as the army general only allows you to take up to 1 Minotaur herd as part of your Core units.

    Additionally, one thing I got clued in on early while playing TOW is that, unless you anticipate the unit to be able to do reasonably well in melee, it's often not worth the points to be giving a ranged unit (like the Ungors) a musician or standard bearer. On a similar note, while the Ambushers special rule might sound nice in theory (given it's Beastmen), the opportunity cost of having the ability to simply not show up for 1-4 turns can be a bit much, even if it can allow you to come on from any table edge as a compulsory move when you do.

    Apart from that, it's looking like a decent start.

    I might be a filthy point eared traitor sometimes. This list works quite well. I have seen a lot of people going for a big Sister of Avelorn sister with a Handmaiden and Lvl 4 in there, often also with the Ruby Ring.

    There are a ton of combos in that sister unit. First off, you go Plague of Rust (obviously) but you also go the teleport spell and windblast. The teleport makes it so you can move the unit 12 inches and do not count as moving. BS5 ignore cover, so that is a ton of hits. Base the unit is Armor Bane 2 and ap -1, with plague of rust even 2+ saves will have a tough time. The kicker is the Horn of Isha the handmaiden has. Once per game the unit has +1 to hit and +1 to wound. That makes it so even T6 targets will be wounded on a 5+, you will probably be hitting on 2s, with 30 inch range and 12 inch teleport, nothing is hiding. The Wind Blast and Ruby Ring coming out of it as well will also have a +1 to wound for just tons of damage. Really expensive but potent firebase and very hard to catch due to the teleports.

    The rest of the list is pretty basic, turbo dragon, swordmasters, core filler and some move blocking.

    I'd honestly ditch the Sword of Might on the Prince and take a normal lance instead. Most of his killing power is already going to be tied up in the dragon itself, and especially on the charge against most enemy units. Hell, apart from the Dragon Helm and maybe the Talisman of Protection, I'd probably consider dropping the magic items altogether on him and demote him to a Noble so that you can take a second one on foot as your army's Battle Standard Bearer.

    As for your infantry, I think you're going to find going 7-wide (judging by the numbers in the Sea Guard and Swordmasters) to be far more cumbersome than you're expecting due to the increase in formation width from slightly less than 5" to 7", especially when it comes to wheeling and navigating around terrain. Whilst the center of the board is likely to be open enough to get away with it in most games (terrain must be both at least 12" away from the center of the board, and more than 6" away from a piece of terrain your opponent put down), you're still likely to find yourself sacrificing a lot of movement redressing the ranks over the course of the game short of having the Drilled special rule.
