    Greetings!
I have been assigned the task of writing a Campaign for the clash of Beastmen and Wood Elves. Can anyone help me with source material containing any conflict between those Armies?

The Battle of Anguish has a little note on Beastmen and Wood Elves:

Referencing the 8th edition Battletome of Wood Elves

But much more is to found in the Battle of Arden.
Perhaps there are even more: you can take an easy look at Warhammer Wiki

    Good luck with it.

    Grrr, !mrahil

    Attention to the Coven!

I bring great news from the Chaos Gods! The rules for Beastmen in Warhammer: The Old World are pretty solid overall, and certainly fulfil the requirement of restoring some of the more unique mechanics of the army.

I'm starting to write a tactica over on EEFL discussing the new army list, for which I will be posting additional articles over the next few days:
    https://eefl.freeforums.net/thread/3556/beastmen-world-legend?page=1#post-68705

Settle yourselves around the Herdstone there, plan your ambushes, and muster your Warherds anew!

Yeeeeah, about that... My wife found my pile of unpainted stuff and is putting her foot down. I'm allowed to keep 6 AoS armies (because that's what I play the most often, and those will be Seraphon, DoK, Skaven, Disciples, Orruks, and Gloomspite), 2, maybe 3 40K armies, but only ONE army for The Old World/WFB, and I'm afraid it is going to be my orcs...

So... much as it pains me to say it, having converted my Centigors, does anyone want them? And/or the remainder of my Beasts of Chaos/Beastmen army? I cannot seem to bring myself to paint any of it, having tried to start no fewer than 5 times, and if I am not going to paint them, I would rather make sure they go to someone who will appreciate them...

This will be a dark day indeed should it come to pass.

You could always ditch your Daughters of Khaine instead, those foul Witch Elves are not a patch on the glory of the Warherd ;)... and besides you'll still have 5 AoS armies left, you can afford to let one of those go. After doing such a good job with your conversions, you shouldn't have to abandon them to please the Mrs.

Do you have a list of what you want to sell?

I suspect this is just the top of the iceberg. You have to realize I'm pushing 50, and the wife is already looking into retirement options. We're going through the house, looking for stuff to downsize in preparation for the future. It is very likely that she's going to make me get rid of more down the line, and while I love the conversions I did for the centigors, I can't bring myself to paint any beastmen. Best to trade/ sell/ whatever to someone who will.

    Fixed that for you

Now begone back to your own threads where you can post about Warriors of Chaos cheese lists or your love of 8th Edition, and leave us Beast chads to chill around our Herdstone ;)

Maybe in terms of TOW, but definitely not in WHFB or AoS.

The Everchosen does not take orders from a lowly Beastlord.

TOW is Fantasy, the next evolution of it. Its rules are fundamentally based on previous editions of the Warhammer Fantasy ruleset, the models it uses are the same as those released for previous editions of Fantasy, and the world it refers to is exactly the same, just a few centuries in the past. Moreover as TOW will continue to grow and earlier editions will continue to fade away, it'll be the only edition of Fantasy that counts in the eyes of the Fantasy playerbase at large.

And since when did you start caring about AoS? The departure of the Beastmen from that game simply means they're moving to a better one (even you can't deny TOW is an all-round better game than AoS).

I thought you were a C'Tan Shard :D:p:D? You can't be everything at once you know... besides, I see no pro-painted Archaon model in your army. You can't possibly be the Everchosen unless you actually have a model of him in your army ;).

And regardless of what Warhammer characters we both are, surely you have the fundamental decency to respect a fellow forumite's wish to have a thread for himself and like-minded associates? What would you think if I tried to smear your Warriors of Chaos list building thread with anti-WoC posts?

Either contribute something constructive to this thread, or be on your way. Such is the rule for any thread on the forum, as you very well know. Whenever I've contributed to one of your army-specific threads I've always been positive and contributive, the least you can do is pay me the same respect.

In terms of tactical quality, 8th edition is better. In terms of popularity, AoS has the edge over TOW. So no matter how you approach the topic, you are beaten on both fronts.

As for 8th fading into oblivion, 6th edition hasn't. People still love that game. TOW's future is still uncertain. It could very well thrive and become a flagship game or remain a side game or even possibly dwindle and be axed by GW. Not to mention, if the Femstodes are a sign of things to come, TOW could get wokified (admittedly unlikely, but possible). You of all people, who (rightfully) enjoys earlier editions of 40k over the current one, should not be so quick to discard 8th into the rubbish bin of wargaming.

Besides, my TOW/WHFB/AoS rebuttal ("Maybe in terms of TOW, but definitely not in WHFB or AoS."), was not an instigation of a game versus game debate (not that I'd shy away from such a contest). I was simply stating facts:
    • WHFB: Dark Elves > Beastmen (Dark Elves got a new book + models and were competitive. Beastmen were left with their 7th edition book and were a bottom basement army)
    • AoS: DoK > Beastmen (Beastmen have recently gotten the axe. DoK remain a fully fledged army in the game)
    • TOW: Dark Elves < Beastmen (Beastmen are a featured faction, while the Dark Elves aren't)

Please do not project your mortal limitations upon me. :p I am as far above gods as they are above you. :D

I do have an Archaon model (two actually, one mounted and the ultra rare unmounted variant).

As for it being pro-painted, I'm not about to pay someone to paint my models. I'd rather have them sprue grey (or in this case pewter silver).

I guess we'd have to engage in posting war... may the odds be ever in your favour.

Besides, if you hadn't made a retort in reference to my original post (which was on topic and relevant to the discussion at hand) I would have moved on by now. Just because my comment was in opposition to your own, does not mean that it does not have a place on the thread. The discussion revolved around which army should be kept, you thought it should be Beastmen and I felt it should be DoK ("Witch Elves"). If your opinion is a valid contribution to the thread, then so is mine. No?
