Here is my first Fantasy army (been doing 40k and specialist games for years), fugured as you watch my progress of my lizard men you can see where it started for me in fantasy. It's close to done but is and will always be WIP: Spider Riders: Bows (bases unfinished): I have an equal amount if spears, just no close ups Squig herd: Fanatics: Various Warmachines: 'Ammo' for the divers: My army's version of manglers. These are WIP pics but they are done now: My Arachnarok Spider: Skarsnik: Also have 30 Savage orcs that are WIP that I will have pics soon (20 done and 10 in process). Here is an over all army shot minus the manglers:
Awesome army but you need to get a white/snow flocked gaming table! The Batman comic/campy fanatic balls are perfection btw!
Thanks! Took me a while to decide on the look. The Big spider was actually done by my bro as a Christmas gift to mimic my riders. I need to get another. Partly so I can paint on myself, partly with running mainly goblins I can and almost need one. That's my first table. I'm making foam overlays for each of my three other armies. A thawing snow for the gobbos, a red dessert for my necrons, and soon as I get the basing down for my Lizzie's something for them as well. The fanatic balls were an strike of great inspiration! They are some of my favorite pieces.
Why doesn't your arachnarok have a snowball flinger? Your manglers are inspiring. A Calvin and Hobbes influence, maybe? Got fluff about your army?
As I said, my brother bought and painted it for a Christmas gift. I do plan on for another and that might be an idea. Thanks and probably as I'm love that strip and story line. But it was not intentionally. Somewhat but not completely fleshed out. Basically they were a smaller tribe of Night Goblins that were small fries in 8 peaks until they came across an unused string of tunnels that were avoided even by the skaven and they the Big'uns and shamans seen it as their opportunity. So they moved and started to grow, even finding spore caves nearby. Then they found out why it was avoided. Their string of tunnels also led to spider caves, ones of tremendous size. Which led to the outside. Usually for Night Goblins that be a bad thing, but Skarsnik had taught them outside wasn't all bad. And venturing forth they learn why the spiders didn't outright try to slaughter their tribe. The spiders were used to goblin kind. Several small tribes of savage goblins lived by and worshiped the spiders. The shamans being cunnin advised the bosses to 'persuade' the tribes to join up becoming a united tribe. The savages would protect the entrance to their caves and the night goblins wouldn't kill them in their sleep. Even a few particularly dumber savage orcs joined up seeing that, though small, the night goblins outnumbered them more then 3 to one (actually 10:1 but they can't count higher the 3). The spider caves opened up mid way down the valley so the ground quite often is covered in snow or perm-frost. Luckily the spiders have evolved to the environment and have developed either a blue or white skin. All that said I have an army size that is roughly 3500 points right now. I have about 50 spider rider, 200 more night goblins, 20 savage orcs, 10 savage Orc boar boyz, 4 trolls (need at least 5 more), not to mention probably another 1000 points of regular orcs and goblins. I got some really good deals and only about $100 into it for all that. But sick of painting them at the moment so took my leave here for Lizardmen
