Hi guys ! I was thinking about a list for a 1000pts tournament. I recently bought 2 second hand Stegadon for almost nothing and I wanted to add both of them to a list. - 10 Skinks Meteoric javelin + star bucklers 80 - 10 Skinks Meteoric javelin + star bucklers 80 - 1 Stegadon with bow 260 - 1 Stegadon with Sunfire throwers. 260 - 1 Skink Priest with priestly trappings/general 100 Master of defence + Phoenix stone - 1 Skink Starpriest 100 I am not sur for the last unit : - 5 Chama Skinks 120 - Or a Saurus Sunblood 120 Chama skinks can be very helpful during the objectives games, but the Sunblood is a serious fighter and is the only way to use the ability of the Starpriest in this list. What do you think? Have a good day!
Maybe take out the priest, take the chamos and then a cowboy on cold one with relic for damage / buff ? Sun blood rocks but you definitely are gonna need chamos for that awesome mobility imo !
I would either run the star priest or the normal priest ot both. Maybe think about a skink cheif instead his command would be able to buff anything in you army and he is cheap.
Maybe something like this: Leaders Skink Chief (60) - Golden Sickle Skink Starseer (160) Saurus Scar-Veteran on Cold One (100) Battleline 10 x Skinks (80) - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers 10 x Skinks (80) - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers Behemoths Stegadon (260) Stegadon (260)
Thanks for your answers guys! @LordRibbit just one Hero won't be enough if we pick the 3 places of power scenario. Even if I love the idea of playing 3 Stegadons!! I have a test match before the tournament, I will try your list Bowser !
if you play with 2 EotG, it should be fairly easy to get a summon. Keep away the points for a Stegadon and blam, 3 behemoths at 1000 pts! (the FAQ state that summoned units don't count toward the limitations on the number of behemoths and heroes)
Hi guys! Quick feedback after the tournament of this weekend. I use the list with the Skink Starseer, 3 game, no win... Game 1 : VS phoenix Temple : An Annoited on Flamespyre phoenix, with 20 pheonix guards and a second unit of 10 phoenix guards. No game, at the end of turn 3 he wiped me out. And I've been pretty unlucky. Game 2 : VS Skavens : 2 units of 30 plague monks, 2 pièces of artillery and a priest on a plague furnace. fun game, we finish turn 5 counting the scenario points Game3 : VS Wanderers : 11 units of waywatchers + a waywatcher lord. : No game, completely wiped out at the end of turn 4. Just because I manage to hide 2 of my heroes behind some pièces of scenery it wasn't really fun to play game 1 and 3 because I couldn't do anything but game 2 was fun.
Well as long as you learnt something from the experience of these battles, it still worthed it. 1. What would you change in these games if you were to play them all over again ? What mistakes do you believe were made ?( lists aside ) 2. We are one of those armies that can compete with the others only by taking advantage of our synergies. Unfortunately, this is pretty hard at 1000points. 3. As mentioned in 2, in order to be more competitive at 1000points you would probably "be forced" into choosing specific units - *winks at @InfamousBeany list* - I believe that you should play the models you enjoy though, and learn their strengths and weaknesses through battles in order to take advantage of this valuable knowledge later on for 2000 points !
I don't think there is any defense against those Waywatchers. Eleven (11??!!) units of three plus that hero is pretty much cheese I guess. We don't have much that can beat that, except maybe some very obscure builds. EDIT: Maybe a Firelance Starhost if you win first turn and can hit them hard? I don't know the others so I don't know if you could have won. It is a pity that you didn't have fun in two of three games. That's always bad. But I can understand it I think Good luck next time, don't give up!
I just looked them up, they are really great. Good defense and offense on those guards. But I'd still say shooting works better against those than melee. So Skink-heavy might actually be better than Saurus. Shoot and pray for some good hits, maybe a Shadowstrike to kill the Phoenix... Of course he didn't know what he'd encounter, but for 1000 points I'd maybe try Skink Chief Skink Starpriest 3x Terradon Riders 10x Skinks 30x Skinks Stegadon Shadowstrike Starhost ...and then hope for some good rolls with the Shadowstrike aiming at the Phoenix and massive shooting/running away with the rest.
1- In game 1, I charge with both Stegadon, turn 2, killed only 3 phoenix guards. I was very unlucky and my oponent soooooo Lucky by saving 98% of the wounds. So I would wait to shoot at the guards and weakened them. -In game 2, would change anything, because the game was quite balanced -In game 3, I ran to get in combat as fast as I could, but he shot both stegadon in 1 turn so, without a solid armour save can't do anything. Or maybe 2 or 3 units of 30 skinks to cover razordons... maybe... 2- Totally agree. 3- Agree as well, 1000 pts games are good practice, for 2000pts games which is a far better size for Seraphon. @Aginor Yes those 11 units of waywatchers were a real nightmare but death armies managed well against them because they can re-pop the skelettons with their banner and once your in combat the waywatchers are not so good. I won't give up but i reckon that Seraphon is not the best army to play in a 1000pts tournament. @Crowsfoot : definitely, hard hitters with strong armour save. 4+ first and a second 4+ ignoring rend. multiple damage like Bastiladon or Salies are the best against this kind of guys I think. Next time I will try to build a list arround a Bastiladon and one or two units of 30 skinks.
