Hi all - after a holiday and testing out about 6 other armies, I'm back to Seraphon! Now, I've got the honor to be the opponent during the very first match of a mate of mine (using a 1000pts pick of Mannfred and the two non-Ghouls Start Collecting boxes) upcoming Saturday. That said, I don't intend to be merciful, but still give and have a fun game! I'm doubting (but not limited to - I have practically every Seraphon model, including the Dread Saurian) between the following two lists: Spoiler: Firelance Starhost (970pts) Leaders (400) Saurus Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur (240) - General (Thickly Scaled Hide), War Spear, Blade of Realities Skink Starpriest (80) - Prism of Amyntok Skink Priest (80) - Cloak of Feathers Units (460) 5 x Saurus Knights (100) - Lances 5 x Saurus Knights (100) - Lances 5 x Saurus Knights (100) - Lances 2 x Razordons (80) 6 x Skink Handlers (80) Battalions (110) Firelance Starhost (110) Total: 970/1000 Points Leaders: 3/4 Battlelines: 3 (2+) Behemoths: 1/2 Artillery: 1/2 Spoiler: Dracothian's Tail (970pts) Leaders (500) Slann Starmaster (260) - General (Vast Intellect), Incandescent Rectrices Saurus Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur (240) - War Spear, Blade of Realities Units (300) 5 x Saurus Knights (100) - Lances 5 x Saurus Knights (100) - Lances 5 x Saurus Knights (100) - Lances Battalions (170) Dracothion's Tail (60) Firelance Starhost (110) Total: 970/1000 Points Leaders: 2/4 Battlelines: 3 (2+) Behemoths: 1/2 Artillery: 0/2 Which one would you think is the most fun to play against and with? Or should I do something completely different? To both questions - the most important question is "Why?"! Thanks in advance, guys!
Kinghts are really underwhelming. You may get get like 4 mortal wounds off them the whole game. They do well with stacked buffs like the scarvet comand ability and the starpriest serpent staff since there mounts are what really do damage. With thoes you will be doing the bite attacks per model rerolling 1s to hit and 6s to wounds are double. A unit of 10 can chew through some infantry. A funn 1000 point list that would do well is Allegiance: Order Saurus Eternity Warden (140) Saurus Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur(240) - Warblade Skink Starpriest (80) 10 x Saurus Guard (200) 5 x Saurus Guard (100) 5 x Saurus Guard (100) Eternal Starhost (130) Total: 990/1000
The added shenanigans of the dracothians tail would make that a very overwhelming list to play against in his first game. IMO I feel like the regular fire lance list would be funner to play against as a beginner, since it would give a slightly more straighforward game. Hope that helps!!
I can't say that this build with heavy reliance on knights won't work. And scar vet on carno is good for warrior horde (especially with sunclaw) - for knights you want scar vet on co. But remember, that knights are support unit.
Here's a simple list, but I had a lot of fun with this one this past weekend: Allegiance: Seraphon Leaders Slann Starmaster (260) - General - Trait: Vast Intellect - Artefact: Incandescent Rectrices Skink Priest (80) - Priestly Trappings Battleline 10 x Saurus Guard (200) - Seraphon Battleline 40 x Skinks (200) - Meteoric Javelins & Star Bucklers Behemoths Stegadon (240) Total: 980/2000 Lotsa buffing from the Slann and the possibility to port either a buffed stegadon or 40 skinks around the map keeps the openent from charging everything at you at once.
