So my lgs is hosting a winter tournament where you have to paint up a wizard character out of any model and random bits you have to act as a wizard based on a pre-made warscroll (provided) and then you can bring a Vanguard list sans any other wizards and ONE monster character. I don’t have a sunclaw so I’m going to have to go with a Firance based list but I’m not sure how to round it out. General: Saurus Scar-Vet on Carnosaur 3x5 Knights w/lances From here I’m thinking about throwing in an Eternal Starhost or I could swell my numbers with a ton of skinks. The scenarios are: 1. Over a frozen lake that could crack anywhere at anytime (I think from the description) 2. A pitched battle in a yeti infested forest 3. “Is at the heart of a great Blizzard” I’m thinking the Eternal Starhost will afford me some defensive capabilities especially in the second scenario but we all know they are insanely vulnerable to mortal wounds and it sounds like there may be a lot of those dished out. Any thoughts, because I’m a little at a loss
Hard to tell. I would probably go for mass Skinks to fill it up. I am not sure: are you allowed to bring heroes on foot that aren't wizards? In that case a Skink Priest and an Astrolith Bearer would come in handy. If yes I would use something like this: Allegiance: Seraphon Leaders Saurus Astrolith Bearer (160) - Incandescent Rectrices Skink Priest (80) - Priestly Trappings Saurus Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur (240) - General - War Spear - Trait: Thickly Scaled Hide - Artefact: Blade of Realities Battleline 40 x Skinks (240) - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers 10 x Skinks (60) - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers 5 x Saurus Knights (90) - Lances 5 x Saurus Knights (90) - Lances 5 x Saurus Knights (90) - Lances Battalions Firelance Starhost (150) Total: 1200 / 1250 Extra Command Points: 2 Allies: 0 / 200 Wounds: 102
@Aginor I actually completely forgot about the astrolith bearer since Slanns were out, that’s a good idea. I can’t take the priest since even wizards on foot are a no go and I only have 40 skinks. What do you think if I fill those two gaps with a set of Rippers.
Rippers are a quite aggressive option and they are a bit vulnerable to round 1 shooting, but sure, can work. Enemies hate them and their toads.
Oh shit you’re right I was thinking of a starpriest, thank you for the clarification! I think I’ll give this a try!
