My son and I are due to have another 1600 pt game, but not sure what I'll be facing (either Beastmen or Dark Elves). However in an attempt to keep him on his toes, I'm taking a completely different list to those used previously and of a type I have never used before: A monster mash(ish) Oldblood, Fencers Baldes, Glittering Scales, Talisman of Endurance Carnosaur Skink chief, BSB, Armour of Destiny, Terradon Skink Priest, Lvl 1, Beasts (?), Dispel Scroll Skink Priest, Lvl 1, Heavens (?) 24 Saurus Warriors, full command, hand weapon & shield 2 x 10 skink skirmishers Bastiladon, Solar Engine Ancient Steg, Sharpened Horns, unstoppable stampede 1599 points. I have no idea what this will play like. Undecided whether to go with priests as one of each lore or to have them the same. BSB can fly around giving support with rerolls where needed and will have his 3+/4++ save (I feel this is risky, but kind of goes with the feel of the army) Should be fun though.
Should be ok, just make sure to keep your chief out of crossbow range. and don't forget that, unlike other fliers, terradons can land in forest. ps. if you ever bump this up to 2000 points, I'd add a unit of cold ones with a scarvet. ..... or a terradon unit for your chief.
Definitely risky. If he goes the route of Dark Elves, you have no look out sir to protect you from bolt throwers. At that point you have a 50/50 ward save. I think the Carno would do better against Beastmen than Dark Elves Looks like a fun list though. Should make for a great game.
