Congratulations to Matthew Gouldesbrough for placing 4th with quite an unusual list! (At least competitively), would love to know more about the thought process that went behind the list design!
For those struggling to read the list. . Slann-rememberer-rectrices Kroak Astrolith Eternity warden EotG-Ethereal Amulet 3X5 saurus guard 1X3 razordons Eternal starhost Geminids Pendulum Spellportal Purple sun Burning head
He played against 2 death quite weak on paper ( both manfred , neferata ... ) one idoneth with 18 eels , an hollowmourne FEC with 24 horrors and the winner, a one Drop Changehost ( his only lost game ) While he got some easy matchup in the early, i still dont get the presence of eternal starhorst ^^ would love to have him debriefing on his event / list
I looked at everyone's list from the event. I have a feeling this was meant to be a more friendly event or is an example of localized meta. No one ran a "tournament" list except for one Slannesh player who took 12th. Even the Idoneth player spammed Namarati instead of Akhelian Eels. Most of the list that did well spammed Endless Spells and unbinds. Something tells me this venue's meta is just centered on endless spells for some reason.
Quite agree the meta of this event was quite original, however there was lots of good players playing their usual hard list, so i think it's not just a friendly event. However we'll have to wait if this endless meta is some new ' type of list we'll have to deal with " like hordes / elites armies. And in this regards , we might have a place according to the theorycraft / this result. but only time will tell.
I do like the kroak bomb idea. LoSaT up, drop an endless spell, pop a couple celestial deliverances, LoSaT back, and drop a comet. Seems like a lot of mortal wounds.
The thing is: it is a bit unreliable. And you risk the spells being unbound. Sure it can work. But to me it is kind of a gambler's choice.
Well to be fair everyone but Nagash runs the risk of spells being unbound, and we like to cast them anyway.
