Hey everybody. This is my first real attempt at terrain. Initially the idea was to be a Sacred Spawning pool for lizardmen, but I think most people would agree it is too shallow, so I'm not exactly what it is persay, but its something...

It is definitely a WIP, but let me know what you guys think so far -- Thanks.

Well it's not really too shallow as it can go "further" into the ground its just the exit from the spawning pool

I think it looks excellent. I especially like the rising sun that is inside the pool.

this is a really cool looking ruin so far. and if i had one like this i'd still say it was a spawning pool. im thinking you could say the rising sun is a sort of platform in the pool or something...idk, just an idea. lol. i can already see the finished product in my head kind of. great job so far and good luck! :D

Thanks for the compliments. I made a little more progress today. Got the tree laid out as well as the vines crawling up the obelisk. I will probly do some more vines along the sides as well. Lemme know what ya guys think.

looks pretty sweet mate =) and i agree, you should use it as a spawning pool, just make the water a little darker to represent the illusion of depth.

    Good luck =)

Looking great, I would like to say what may halp the look a little is if you glue some sand on the stone bits of the pool. maybe not inside, just to give the stone some texture then paint over it a bit. Either way its looking fantastic.

Well, I think its mostly completed. Let me know what you guys think. I, of course, still have to add the water effects inside the pool, but I have yet to get water effects and learn how to apply them. Anyway, I like how the ruin itself turned out.

I considered this, but I thought it would make the stone structure too uniform with gravel. Thanks for the tip though.

I like it, say if you did decide to make it into a spawning pool you could use some clear platic sheets then paint on them. it may even create the perseption of depth.
So you could remove them if wanted to change your mind or use it as something else, and not riun the finshed artical.

I think it looks to "new" tbh. it needs to look more weathered, have no idea how to do that tough ^^
    Good luck.

You could google weathering in miniatures and see what you find. If you are lucky, you will find something on ruins. I believe it boils down to drybrushing and highlighting to give the effect.

i dont think it should be weathered as a ruin - if it is still being used as a spawning pool then the skinks would keep it in good condition

therefore it would always more or less look new
