Woah Now these are some Pro-Painted Lizardmen. http://www.microartstudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=9 (Not mine I, they where just so awesome I had to share the link)
That is awsome. I really liked the mounted scar-vet/old blood. The tiger stripes on the cold one were a cool touch.
That was an amazing army. Especially since the comment he made. He had been working on the army for a year?! Anyone else paint that slow and that well? We'd have to give them more time for challenges. I wonder if the painter uses an airbrush?
The quality is really good, but I have to admit that I don't like a lot of the colour scheme choices. Personal opinion I guess. The first steg looks a bit weird, but the second steg with more natural colours looks spectacular!
I thought the skinks on the first steg looked a little flat (like he hadn't highlighted them), it could be the angle but... apart from that it looks nicely painted, I have to agree with strewart though, that I'm not totally wild about the colour choices, but there we go.
Ok maybe I exagerated a bit, and the color scheme is a bit funky, The part I liked was that there where a lot of converted models, and he actualy bothered to paint a lot of the gems quite well, and his metalics looked quite good, also he had used some unique paint schemes. Further looking throught that site I realize it was one of the first post, and hed had done a dozen or so other commisioned after that one.
More creative lighting and pp than actual painting i fear. High contrast, fair bit of clarity and a nice touch of Unsharp mask. Little guassian Blur on the background also so that it really pops the model. Still nicely painted though.
Agree that the conversions are nice and the painting looks fairly crisp (although GBDarkAngel's comment about Photoshop is interesting). Not a big fan of the powder blue and fuscia scheme. I do like bright colors, but this goes a little to far IMHO.
The PP is easy to spot. Photography is my first love so you get used to spotting the adjustments fairly easy. Although i would like to point out that most websites and browsers drain the colour and can make pics look less crisp so its not unusal to use these steps to really show them off and make them pop. The downside though is that it can make them look a little better and more crisper than they are.
