Ancient Lizards Painting Log (Scar-vet on CO done!)

Hello everybody,

A few months ago i've started with a new colored lizardmen army. I've painted a few models right know and I thought, let start a blog right know.

The first models which are fully painted with my new colors:

15 Saurus warriors, with a unitfiller at the left! Made of sprues,


My saurus scar-veteran


My stegadon, just a normal one!



An overview


The current project is a Skrox unit! The idea was to put all the shields of the skinks on their back and tried to put as many little convertions in the unit to make it unique!




I hope you liked it!

Can't wait to see how the skink/krox unit progresses. I like the look of those skinks so far. Makes me want to do something a little more crazy for my next unit.

I hope to finish them this weekend, i will upload later this day my progress and the kroxigor, the krox is already finished!

Looking good so far. My favourite is definitely the skinks. I like the conversion work you've done on them.

The kroxigor for the skrox unit was finished already, so here is a picture of the kroxigor!

very cool, but i think i can give a very useful tip for you on the bases.

start by covering the base with glue and sprinkle sand on. when dry paint the sand some earthy color (remember that dirt is more black than brown). when this is dry you can add grass and stuff. the grass will look so much cooler if added in patches over an "earth" base than it does if you just glue it straight on. you can cover almost all the "earth" with grass if you want that green feel, but the fact that it is added in patches will give your bases a whole new dimension.

Yes i know it but i've put manu models already on their bases. It is not smart i know... Basing is not the kind of work where im good about

After a long time here's a new picture of my new project, the carnosaur, it's still not finished so you might see some bad-painted parts in here, but i hope you like it

After a long time i have some new pictures... Had a busy time and i almost finished my kroxigors and razordons! A few saurus warriors and the final picture of the skinks are also coming!

But for know, watch the new massive predators, my new finecast kroxigors and razordons...
I'm very happy with the result for so far and i hope you like it too!





As you see, some detailing is missing, maybe i will add some extra highlights on the skin!





And two of the three razordons! the last one is not based yet and the handlers are coming!

Kroxigors look great. I think an extra highlight or two on the skin would be well worth it.

Your carnosaur is freaking great, btw.

It is funny how your models from distance (at least on the pictures) looks rather unpainted, but look super good on the close up pictures. Keep up the good work!

After a long time of no posts i'm back with a few updates! I'm optimizing the highlights on my stegadon, still in progress, but it is definately better then before in my opinion!

And because of the new edition I have a box of new Ripperdactyl riders! I've started to paint the first one to see how they look when my ideas about the wings are painted on the model!

I've also worked on the skinks, i also have pictures of the new skinks!

The carnosaur is finally done, including rider and base!
I also started with painting 12 saurus warriors.. i hope to finish them soon so I can start with the remaining 10 templeguard..

i agree with the comment about basing. i think that basing a model is equally as important as the painting of the model.

the skink in the tree is just awesome, great work so far

I've practised with basing with my tau arm.. the upcomming basing would be better!
