so, I recently won an auction on eBay, which turned out to be a real steal - essentially 2 boxes of skinks, 2 boxes of cold one riders, 1 box of saurus, 2 metal temple guard, and a metal kroxigor. For the price of less than 1 box of skinks (including shipping) However, as you can see below, the kroxigor is without weapon Any ideas for a fix? I have bits from the battalion box, and thought to find a spare spear from there and try to improvise some greenstuff arms. He's a pretty slim kroxigor (I much prefer the new fine cast model really), so I'm thinking a saurus spear might not be totally off?
You could probably convert one of the standards to a weapon. you could also just use the pole and glue on bits from Saurus weapons.
You could take a piece of sprue thats long enough and then shave it down along the sides to make a crude cilinder. Doesnt have to be perfectly round or anything, makes it look more real if its imperfect. Then you could definitely add one of the banners to it. What I did with Krox GW is basically take the large standard from the CO kit and fashioned a weapon out of it. http://www.lustria-online.com/attachments/dsc09491_zps435e2fcb-jpg.12879/ This is what I am talking about. Its basically shaved down sprue I had left over from some helicopter kit, the head of the CO banner and a halberd from the TG kit. I added a skull to the back of it later (not in the picture). Hope this helps!
I have some ogre weapons in my collection, let me look. This is all I have @miturian message me your address If you can use them
^ yep "Bob" @T`hinker`er is one of our members there is a WIP of him sculpting them somewhere on the site. http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/old-schooler-new-to-lizzies.5025/page-29#post-96101
Brass rod from any model RR shop for the haft. Ogre hands from bitz barn or somebody. Plus any of the great ideas for weapon heads further up.
So, time for a quick update on this project Crowsfoot totally came through on his offer, and actually send me all 4: this krox is now next on my todo list (first up is my bastiladon), I will post updates to this thread But I thought it was fair that word of Crowfoot's generosity wasn't delayed until then
Given the parts that have turned up. I would try this (it has been photo-slopped together with pieces from three of the ogre weapons):
That looks good, I think I would have tried to cut the handle with the hand (above) and extend it with a hand from the other side. That way both of the hands will be gripping it. This will need some additional fine detail on with the use of greenstuff, but should not be that complicated.
All the hands in the picture @Crowsfoot posted are left hands. Hopefully, @miturian has a right hand some place.
That is why I mentioned that some green stuffing would be needed. Even with only left hands, you should be able to convert one slightly so that will not be noticeable when the model is on the table. Just cut off a small part of each side with the fingers, and recreate a resemblance at opposed sides with green stuff. Not the best explanation, but I think you understand the concept.
