I also played Legend of the Five Rings (how i loved that game!). Now me and a few friends dabble on Call of Cthulu CCG. Great game, and it won't make you go poor .
I played back when portal was released, around 1998. I then casually quit for 9 years, rediscovering it in 2007! Now i'm once again addicted!
I really like the game but just can't keep up the expenditure required to carry it on. I really liked the Ravnica block so I went back to the game when that was tournament legal, but now it's gone again so I''ve pretty well given up on it. I guess there's always extended........
Yeah the card turnover is risiculously fast, and if you want to play competitively you need to spend a fortune to get the best cards. It's an addictive game, but I'm pretty sure I won't go back to it.
i play magic for a long time now, and never stopped ! ´started in judgement i think.. its a cool game.. although warhammer fantasy is better and best !
I played a lot of magic just after Unlimited came out and stopped just after Ice Age. I was playing a lot of tournaments in 1995 and 1996 and managed to finance myself just with trading and playing for almost a year during university... I've gotta say I miss playing but got pretty annoyed with the game changing so much. I used to love playing a land destruction millstone deck with plenty of countermagic. Oh how I miss my sinkholes, strip mines and stone rains! Except for Ancestral Recall I had all the cool cards - I even remember when the chaos orb was tournament legal... I sold all my cards (I can't remember when... 2001 or 2002 maybe? definitely after Ice Age) and switched to legend of the five rings which about 2 people in all of Vienna played... I won the one and only tournament ever to be held here and haven't touched my cards since - I have loads of really powerful ones though, however it seems the backs have been changed due to a copyright problem and so my cards have become, if I am correct, totally useless (anyone know?). Too bad, I have a couple of dragons and plenty of unique dudes. I mainly played scorpion and crane clan. If anyone is interested in my cards let me know...
MMMMMMMM ice age and beautiful beautiful snow-covered lands. Yeah, ice age was actually about when I started, my big peak in MTG came during the Weatherlight saga w/ Tempest, Stronghold, and Exodus. Nothing is quite so beautiful as the original inception of shadow and slivers. I stopped playing around the time of the Urza Saga, when things started speeding up way too much.
I played magic for a while but found that if you wanted to play in local tournaments you had to spend $100 bucks every three months. Being a university student this just became too expensive. I still have all my cards but don't really play much anymore. I am considering playing casually with the group I play warhammer with tho.
Have a swamp deck. Used to play then thought is sucked. Used Phage the Unfotunate with MJOIN of Night Reach
I started around Weatherlite and quit at Urza's saga, when things started getting cheesy like, "This monster has a power and toughness equal to your health!" I have a few L5R decks but couldn't find anyone to play with. --DF2K
I knew this would be about Mtg Yeah i used to play, started collecting when Torment came out I usually play a few games now and then with the gf (if im lucky) but its good o' warhammer for me
I may be dating myself here, but..... Does anyone play Battletech? Old Wizards of the Coast TCG that was popular when the minis game was popular. Still have a few cards around and some nasty tournament illegal 'cheese' decks. Best card game I ever played.
