don't want to open a new thread for it, so I use this one.

Just received my own new battletome, and yeah, it's Great :D

    but...
    but...
    but...

...WHERE IS THE SKINK CHIEF?!?!?!? :argh:

How am I supposed to field my skink army without him as general? :(

It's like me wanting to field Tehenhauin but he doesn't exist in the books. A few don't exist, now. Unless they are coming back later. I hope they come back.

Which is a pity. .. but i can see it for some named characters.
What seems strange is that they "killed" a generic hero... and one that lacks a counterpart in its role.

The compromise to this is a stegadon with skink alpha. You get an ability that is comparable to the chief's command ability, and it frees up your general choice for something truly stronger.

I don't play AoS, so I may be falling from the sky here, but can't you just play the lost special characters and heroes using the old rules of the lizardmen compendium?

yes you totally can use the warscrolls still, but they aren't making the models anymore. I never bought my Oxyotl =(

    Can you?
Isn't the same thing of "the new book supersedes the old one"?

I don't think it is, no. Different books will add new warscrolls, but I don't think there's any mechanism for retiring old ones.

I think the concept of an army book per se is gone in AoS. However, if you wanted to, you could define something - say, the GW website - as the "current authoritative" list and only use units that are on that list.

The operative phrase, of course, being "if you want to".

They retired Skink Chief, Oxyotl, Tehenhauin, and Junlge Swarms to "Lizardmen", whereas the bulk of the army is in the Seraphon section. Their warscrolls still say seraphon though so they get all the same synergies. Supported for the game, but a discontinued product.

    Make sense, i suppose.
Or at least, I like this reading ;)

EDIT: it's not even a "reading". Indeed, it's basically specified in the battletome, before the list of warscrolls.
