    very cool!

will you keep them without pupils? i always prefer pupils because it makes the model come alive so much. maybe try it, and paint over it if you dont like it? :)

Wow! Looks great. And I must say your Jade hghlights are better than ever. I love the spear tip. Looks like I may have to go a little heavier. Very cool.

    Re: Totzro's paintlog

My plan is to keep them without pupils, I like the cold-blooded and fierce look it gives them. Sorta weights up for the colorful scheme. But I can give it a try and post it here :)

Thank you! Have you made any tests with the jade, I'm a bit curious how it turns out.

In other news I've been busy working at my stegadon this weekend which is about 80% done, it's a bit sad that I entered it in the competition since I can't show you the work and get feedback. But I think it's turning out pretty alright. Lot's of stuff to paint on this guy!

    Cheers!

    Re: Totzro's paintlog

    Sorry for the doublepost.

We're gonna play our first game of 500 pts in our little group this weekend. So I figured I gonna stop working on my steg for a little while and try to paint up what I need in my small force.

First and foremost I decided to start working on a salamander, and since I don't like to ones that GW got I decided to convert my one from the old dark elf cold ones I got.

This is what I've come up with so far:

    What do you think? :)

    Re: Totzro's paintlog - Update 14/11 - Salamander conversion

Very nice salamander! I am looking to make something similar except out of a razordon for mine, I am also planning to have some flames on the body. What is the white material you have used?

    Re: Totzro's paintlog - Update 14/11 - Salamander conversion

Thank you! First I made supports from wire which I then covered up with greenstuff. I made the sails out of plasticard, which was a pain to get right and to get them to fit. I then used a product I bought yesterday, tamiya putty white. It came in a tube and had almost the consistent of toothpaste, it harden quite quickly.
I used that to give the sails some texture. Pretty messy stuff.

    very nice conversion.

Have been using the tamiya putty a long time ago (if i remember correctly) , but i always figured it was more a filler than a real putty.

    Re: Totzro's paintlog - Update 14/11 - Salamander conversion

Thank you! It really is, I had never used the stuff before, so basically I went out on a limp. But I kinda worked and I have now found out what you can do with the stuff.

No working with the army the last days, been busy on the work, working overtime every day...

    Re: Totzro's paintlog - Update 14/11 - Salamander conversion

    Woops, double post ;)

All work and no play makes totzro a dull boy. Well it isn't that bad. I've done some minor conversionwork this weekend.

First up is my skink priest. It's the dude from the steg kit with a feather necklace for some added uniqueness. He's standing on a scenic base from GW.

The next guy is a unit filler for my first saurus unit, he's standing on a broken pillar/obelisk, and is crazy and big enough to count as 4 saurii ;)

I've also got hold of 4 used jungle swarms, which I will use to decorate my bases. This is still WIP, I'm not done with the greenstuffing.

    Cheers!

Ps. Maybe we should move this paint log to the paint log sub forum? If a moderator could help with this it is most appreciated! .ds

    Wonderful shaman skink!

    :)

Stegadon's sprues are very useful ;)

Very interesting the unit filler: in some way, it is similar to what I've in mind in order to sculpt my own Oxayotl

    Re: Totzro's paintlog - Update 20/11 - Unit filler

Cool priest and unit filler. I had the same idea for a unit filler, I used a metal scar vet model as mine though and have him on a rock made out of bark. Will be cool to see it painted!

And sure I can move this thread to paint logs.

    Re: Totzro's paintlog - Update 14/11 - Salamander conversion

Thanks! Yes it's a wonderful kit, I love to have lots of bits and pieces from different kits to do some heavy kit bashing. Something I got in habit since my days as an ork collector.

Thanks for the move, and thanks for the nice comments :) I saw your unit filler, it looked very nice! Just a question, do people ever confuse it for a scar vet?
I hope to get them painted soon :)

    Thank you very much!

    Re: Totzro's paintlog - Update 14/11 - Salamander conversion

Thanks! No that doesn't happen, since it is at the back of the unit and usually the first removed when 4+ casualties occur it is barely noticed. Almost a shame for a model that took so long to paint. :p
