I was thinking of doing this with some green stuff. Is it worth it? I bought SC box. I would glue clubs to spear shafts, and create some fluff for shields (like those tusks they have), put some more gold on their tails and create little bone helmets. Also, can anyone post high quality pics of single model of both warriors and guard? It would help greatly with the whole process.
Welcome to Lustria. Our Saurus units are super competitive at the moment. I would just keep them as warriors.
Oh okay, since I'm basically making a 1k list from SC box and one box of knights. And from what I've read about warriors and guard, if I only use 10, guard are gonna be better? Since you need 20 or 30 warriors to make them shine?
I gave the exact opposite advice that I intended too, there was suppose to be a contraction in there. "Our Saurus units AREN"T super competitive at the moment."
So basically, I can but don't have to? I meant to use 15xKnights, 10xGuard, Scar Vet on Cold One, Skink Priest, Scar Vet on Carno and Oldblood/Sunblood on foot, it comes out as 990 pts, and if something changes with the new GH, I can always convert one Warr model to Astrolith Bearer, and run Firelance Starhost if it gets buffed? I'm working with SC box and 8 extra knights.
I already had some guards when I got the SC box, so I just glued the spare heads, weapons, and shields on the warrior bodies. They look a little skinny with the bigger heads and some of them don't fit well because of the crests but I don't think it would be very noticeable once painted. You might also be able to glue some skulls from the GW skulls kit on the warriors' heads. https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Citadel-Skulls-2017
You could also use them to convert an Eternity Warden from the Oldblood. If you want to make the most of the Guards, the Eternal Starhost is great! This is also a great tutorial for the SC box.
