How do you guys play against alarielle and her treeslaves?
The amount of wounds she can put out and heal is insane...

I haven't played against her yet (my Wife is building a Sylvaneth Army but it iwn5 ready for battle yet) but I think mass Skinks might be a solution.
She is 600 points IIRC which is the equivalent of 120 Skinks. She won't be able to kill all of them.
So put them on the objectives if you can and shoot everyone else.

    Might work. Not sure though.

She is crazy strong, I hate to admit it but I love her - and she was owning me for months.

Never easy to be dealt with but :
Meatshield to block the important targets 1st turn and then 1. Sallies - even with 2+, a group of 4 is sure to damage her once at least - d6+ 50% for d3 mw.
    2. Terradon riders : I use 9 of them - 4 are sure to hit -> 8 out of 16 wounds are gone now more or less. At a turn that you interrupted her mystic shield or she failed it, the non rend wounds on a 3+ will also deal a good amount of damage.
    3. Stegadon charging with -3 rend. This however, is not to be relied solely. It will pass 2 damage average. You can use it to support 1 and 2.

She is one of the toughest units to be dealt with, good luck !

Tie her down with a 2+ rerolling Bastiladon until you get in position to kill her with Stegadon Rend-3 horns, Salamanders Rend-2 shots, and/or Mortal Wounds from Arcane Bolt + Engine of the Gods + Prism of Amyntok.

Burying her in skinks seems valid, though does require the painting of a crapton of skinks... :p
Let's see how many skinks would we need:

30+ skinks: 1/3+/5+/-/1 = 2/9 wound/skink with a 3+ save that's 2/27th wound per skink, for 16 wounds would be 216 skinks. Now add in some buffer to Ensure we retain the horde bonusses & an extra unit just to make sure. I'd say bring 280 skinks (so 7 units). It's only 1400 points, and it's not like they're going to be wiped out any time soon even if they do fail to kill her. Totally valid tactic.

Minor sidenote, has anyone ever tried just bringing 2000 points worth of skinks to a tournament? I wouldn't be surprised if it's actually fairly effective. You can't remove the horde bonus from all of em and with 400 of em they're bound to kill something each turn.

I also lack the morale to build...300+ Skinks. But here is a possible list if anyone would like to try it:
It basically says: "LOL I hope you don't have a time limit for this game since this will take a while. Also I hate you."
Tactics: Put as many Skinks onto the objectives as possible and tie your enemies with the rest. Buff the save with the Heroes (one wizard casts mystic shield the other Starlight and the third can occasionally fire arcane bolt into something).

I wish I could play it once to try it (probably using movement trays so people don't slap me after the first round) but I just cannot build so many Skinks.

hmmm...... *searches eBay for Skinks* ;) :D

If anyone is intersted me and my friends messed about with a similar list to test this out. We had to pool all of our skinks together from everyone we know who has ever played for me to use and we could only play a 1500 point game but this is what I ran:

    Leaders
    - Skink Starpriest (80)
    - General
    - Master of star rituals
    - Incandescent Rectrices

    - Skink Starpriest (80)
    - Skink Priest (80)
    - Priestly trappings
    - Skink Priest (80)
    - Priestly trappings

    Units
    - 40 x Skink (200)
    - 40 x Skink (200)
    - 40 x Skink (200)
    - 40 x Skink (200)
    - 40 x Skink (200)
    - 30 x Skink (180)

    Total: 1500

My friend was using a death army (pre the new Battletome) and he was using:

    Leaders
    - Necromancer (110)
    - Ghoul King (120)
    - Crypt Ghast Courtier (80)
    - Crypt Infernal Courtier (140)

    Units
    - 9 x Crypt Flayers (480)
    - 30 x Crypt Ghouls (300)
    - 30 x Crypt Ghouls (300)

    Total: 1530

We played a random game from GHB2017 which happened to be Scorched Earth. I actually won the game quite comfortably as I almost always had more models near to objectives and he could not get through my skinks quickly enough. I am not sure if it would work as well as an army in other game modes or against other types of armies. For example, his Crypt Flayer's shooting attacking couldn't do a thing as everything has a bravery of 10 and in this game I could destroy his objectives so he couldn't recapture them. Either way it was funny for about 10 minutes but got quite tedious quite quickly.

Well with that setup your certainly not going first, so any enemy that’s fairly mobile (goregruntaz with their free move, KO with ships + drop, SC with ride the lightning) is going to jump on the objectives first then your stuck for 5 round trying to kill 2/3 ups with a bunch of 5&5 no rend skinks...

You only need 216 skinks to kill something like alarielle in 1 turn as I've mentioned earlier. I'm sure 300+ skinks can shoot a down a bunch of SC or KO :p

Anyways, It'd mostly be a joke list I doubt it'd be very effectie against most vaguely capable opponents. Though depending on the type of objective you might end up surprisingly well off.

Skinks aren't as bad as you think. If they are more than 30 in a unit their Boltspitters are 3/5/-/1 and I can assure you I have killed pretty big stuff using them, including Maw-Krushas.

It is only a fun list but you should not underestimate those little guys.

You could also use ~16 salamanders to get the same result of killing Alarielle in one turn; that's only 640 points, so it's fairly reasonable.

Alarielle with a 2+ save with re-rolls (Treelord ancient as general instead of Alarielle) isn't realistically going to be killed by any number of skinks. Even at a 3+ save with re-rolls, it's unlikely for 200 skinks to be able to kill her in 5 turns because of her healing.

Though it is a fair point that Sylvaneth will struggle to kill that many Skinks, as they don't have a great way of dealing with hordes other than Drycha, so many scenarios will probably be favored just because of the model count.

Alarielle isn't really something that you aim to kill anyway, you try to survive her.
That's why I think bringing a lot of wounds is necessary.

Oh no no ! Trust me on this one Aginor ! You CANNOT and SHOULD NOT run away from a thing with 16" move + fly, that deals MW to the WHOLE terrain piece every single time it charges and deals F I V E wounds in each successful beetle bite. And can also tp from woods to another. No, no my friend. Tried this mistake once ! :p:p:confused::confused:
