Ive been playing Warhammer for quite some time now, and Lizzies were my first army choice. Over the years I tried other armies when I really should have focused on my Lizardmen and finished them first, live and learn I guess. Well Ive been concentrating on them and Ive repainted some of my old models and added new ones, so here is this painting/converting log to show them off!

Here are my WIP Salamanders. I had originally painted them red, but it didnt gel with my army so I stripped them and painted them green to fit my scheme:

    sal2-1.jpg

They need touching up and rebasing, but they are almost done.

Here are my cold one riders. Ive hated all the cold one models, but when I saw the new Dark Elf cold ones, I knew I had to have my saurus on them:

Just some more greenstuff work and they are ready for paint.

Last thing for today is my temple guard. I painted them a turquoise color to be the bridge between my green saurus and blue slann.

Any comments and constructive criticism are welcome!

    More to come....

Everything looks good. Could you show us a picture of one of the saurus cavalary unmounted? I want to see how you did the green stuff on the cold one to make them fit properly.

I cut off the saddles, filled the gap with green stuff and glued the two halves of the legs of the rider to the green stuff (so I could make sure the legs sit flush with the cold one), its hard to explain, when I get bitz I do a tutorial.

    Also heres more pics.

    sallies, almost done:

Awesome shading on the slann, really natural tones. He looks fantastic.

For the stegadon, I'd think all gold would look kind of tacky, and draw the eye away from the actual dinosaur model.

Great work. I like how the shading on the paper that the slann is setting on gives the illusion that the slann is almost floating there.

    Re: GnomeRage's army blog

The holidays has been very busy so I havent quite had time to work on my lizzies, but I did play a few games which reminded me to show off some of my terrain.

Back when GW had the Lustria events, they sold alot of overpriced jungle terrain. I wasnt having it, so I went to the craft store and bought 25 usd worth of fake plants (40k defiler for size reference):

    IMG_7370_zpsa779aa6e.jpg

Waaaay more foliage than Ill ever need, still cheaper than GWs stuff. Anyway I found some wooden dowels and added some railroad terrain stuff for bark, here are the WIP trees:

    2012-12-08_00-11-42_9431_zps5c01dd7e.jpg

You can also see my crocodile skull aquarium decoration that I use as well.

Another little piece of terrain is my dinosaur bones. I was perusing a dollar store when I came across toy dinosaur fossils. They were 1usd for two figures. I chopped em up and glued them to cardboard. They are also WIP.

In the midst of all this picture taking I forgot to include my temple ruins.

So theres a quick update for now, working on some more lizzies and plan to do a detailed tutorial for my cold one riders. Thanks again for looking!

So are you thinking quick sand for the fossils or something else?

Im thinking having them half buried in the ground. The sand will be painted like ground, not staying the same color. I will be adding more rocks and static grass.

Looking good! With the trees, they might look good with some other terrain pieces that are of a different height, to bring it together.

I have taller trees as well, but they kept tipping over, so at some point ill have to make sturdier bases for the tall trees.

I was actually thinking lower, maybe half the height of those trees, but higher could work, too.

    Re: GnomeRage's army blog

I wasnt happy with my oldblood on cold one model (found it too static) but I did like my cold one rider champion, so I combined the two and really like the results.
