Extra Credit put it rather well that GW's shotgun approach to video game licensing plays more into advertising the tabletop brand, and doing it in such a way that the bad games are marginalized and the good ones stand out.

Each individual game also starts off with a limited window into one of three immense settings, in no small part to GW wanting to see if a given studio can work faithfully within the IP before letting them have further access.

I decided to back this, been looking for my first bust to paint for a while and nothing has been catching my eye. This though, would love to paint.

yup, it is rather effective as most bad games quickly get forgotten anyway, unles they're truly astonishingly bad, even if you don't activly try to sweep it under the carpet. And even if it's bad, as long as it's not a complete disaster it at least introduces people to the universe and opens up the possibility of diving in deeper. And since the setting is easily the best thing about the bad games, that's the one bit they'l remember when next they see something warhammer related, that the setting was cool, but the actual game has long since faded from memory.

Indeed. The absence of stormfiends and a verminlord has made me question the possibility of an end times final DLC for the third game

The new Fyreslayer stuff is on its way next week chaps! :joyful::oldman:

And while the Fyreslayers don’t have any new characters coming, they will be seeing the return of the Doomseeker, the character from Silver Tower who was removed from the webstore a while back.

I should probably paint that one at some point... and half the heroes from the silver tower game for that matter...

Rules for their new forge to be honest a tad underwhelming

I see what you mean and I agree, but on the other hand it’s means Fyreslayers will be less reliant on protecting that scenery piece because it gives out less of a buff and is less consequential if it is lost. The Khorne shrine, on the other hand, gives out much more of a Buff, but if you can somehow get to it, kill the priest on it and guard it to stop them getting another priest near it, that will deal quite a heavy blow to them if they can’t get it back.

well, I agree it's weak, but after all it's free.

Having the terrain not be super important isn't bad, but it still feels rather odd compared to the others.

What mostly dissapoints me is that at first glance it seems like it'l only really feel impactfull when you have multiple priests in your army as it buffs every priest within a fairly significant range. But the fyreslayers only have 2 models that count as priests (runemasters and runesmithers on magmadroths). So either it's not gonna be very impactfull, or you're going to be spamming those two heroes, neither of which seems very appealing.

Also although I like the idea of an one-time-use ability for terrain like this but it does seem a tad weak. Re-rolling only saverolls of 1 seems fairly unimpressive, and more importantly is a buff that's fairly common anyways. So it feels unimpressive as your terrain piece big special one-time only special ability.

So are nurgle trees, Khorne altars, skaven gnawholes, Sylvaneth woods, beastman tribal stones & grot loonshrines. Those are all magnitudes more impactfull.

Yes, but the Forge is by far the more beautiful one. That's the price to pay! :p

You can also get Runesmiters on foot as well if you decide to make the Magmadroth kit up with a Runefather or Runeson on its back.

Another new Stormcast store opening model (could it really be anything else?), Berek the Indomitable. The pose and concept behind the pose is pretty cool, but just like the last one, what’s with the face?!
