Huh. Can't really imagine what it will do but I'd say I'll give it a try.

I think it will mirror the paint system so hopefully it shows you what to shade and highlight with, probably aimed at painters not familiar with GW paint system.

Does this mean that I can become a decent painter without practicing? :artist:

This is what I am thinking.

"What colour do you want to paint?"

"Cool, these are the base, shades, and layers to use... GL HF"

... and I bet there'll be an option to order the paints needed directly via the app... ;)

What I would love to see is a number of pictures (three to five sides) from all models, and the ability to paint them over with the colors in the app, so you can see how it would look on the model, to test out color combinations.

That was my second thought after, "Who's Duncan?"

    ISTs:

There is an app developer** who has created an app to track and inventory paint. It is only available for android devices. There is a development thread on Reaper's Forums. **His handle there is "CourageousOctopus". The app is agnostic about which brand of paints.

Reaper has a feature on the website where you can upload a picture, sample individual pixels, and it will give you the closest matching paint color. Obviously it matches to the closest available Reaper Color.

    http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/68107-paint-track-apps/&page=2
Thread where painters ^ are discussing tracking paint bottles purchased via phone apps. On page 2, Jeff, aka CourageousOctopus, creator of "painTRack" an Android only app, joins the discussion. Thread becomes a feedback channel for paintRack.

You'd like to think this new app from GDub would be useable as a paint inventory tracker, even if it did mostly try to 'help' order more.

This next link goes to the: PowerPallette...

    http://www.reapermini.com/PowerPalette

...utility that will ^ sample images at the pixel level and recommend corresponding paint colors.

Anyone else got it? What do you think about it?
I find it quite nice but not as extensive as I thought...

Same here. It is kinda nice but I somehow expected more.
What surprises me is that there isn't a link on the wishlist page to just go to the web store and buy them. In that case I would have liked that I think.

I downloaded it and I think it's quite good, the more I look into it the better I think it is, for instance I looked up gold and it gives you all types of gold.

Layer and Drybrush colours is also really useful especially for a new painter, I think GW have done a good job.

If they would have linked direct that would turn more people off than on.
