Hi everyone! I am 100% a lizard, like you, and not a squishy warmblood in an ill-fitting scaly suit and cheap dentures. Brrr, how my blood is cold! Ouch, how my teeth are sharp! Yes, a total and utter lizard. And a predator, too. Not prey. Not prey at all. You wouldn't like my taste. *grins, then hurriedly straightens dentures* Aaaanyway. I started playing Warhammer Fantasy in the 6th edition, when I was in high school. At the time I was very tempted to play Lizardmen, who looked cool and badass, but I felt they were a bit too far removed from the medieval/Tolkienesque fantasy elements I loved so much, so I went with Bretonnians instead. I'm back in the hobby after a long hiatus, and this time I'm going full scaly, as the Old Ones intended (and let me know repeatedly by handing my Bretonnians defeat after defeat). I like the simplified Age of Sigmar rules. I'm much less keen about the reboot of the whole universe; to me it feels like they've thrown the baby out with the bathwater. I also feel that the overhyped Stormcast Eternals are usurping the Lizardmen's place in the setting as the Chaos-fighting footsoldiers of the gods. But that's a discussion for another thread. It's quite possible that I won't be very active on this forum, or not for very long, but I thought it would at least be polite to write an introductory post. To you, my fellow lizards. Who, like myself, would never be mistaken for warmbloods, no, sir.
Welcome aboard! If you have any questions feel free to ask, and don't be afraid to post up your seraphon and your brets as well!
Welcome aboard, some posters come and go and then some intend on going but never do, so you never know were you will slot in, I was just going to post a few things and here we are 2 years later!
Welcome! I have a collection of Bretonnians as well. Bretonnians are fun, but they suffered badly in the old universe due to lack of codex updates. And they tended to be predictable with mass cavalry charges. Unlike the lizards, who have a large range of options available. Good luck in your endeavors!
Very true. I really feel bad for poor Bretonnian players who wait so very long and so patiently to get an update. Instead of the "End Times", I wish GW would have seen fantasy off with: army books for the final 3 armies (Brets, Skaven, Beastmen) a final & complete errata/faq for all the armies I would have been extremely satisfied with that. Instead we got all this End Times stuff, for which interest seemed to drop off quite rapidly.
That would have been nice. Regardless of how the Bretonnian religion wound up being elvish lies it would have been cool to see lots of evil-secretive forshadowing in the book, leading one to question the purity of the Lady of the Lake but tragically the glorious Grail Knights and the dukes of the realm were too misguided to see the truth.
Personally I don't put much stock in any of the End Times fluff (or game play for that matter). For my own gaming narrative only stuff before the End Times is relevant. I felt the End Times to be nothing more than a quick cash grab. I refuse to throw out decades of good fluff on a whim.
Welcome to the forums! We got resources to help your painting and gameplay and we are working on improving the base line fluff. We look forward to your contributions.
You should checkout the unofficial 8.1 and 8.5 edition rules. They pretty much do this. LINK: http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/whfb-8-5.17593/ and here for latest versions: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1483795728606274/permalink/1508066336179213/
I've seen their work. I was just hoping that GW would have left us with something more "official". I think there are too many fan-made variations & versions floating around. I think it comes down to personal preference and I myself tend to stick with official rules. That's why I never engaged with comps (ETC, Swedish) either. I almost went the way of T9A, but in the end I didn't like the direction they were taking.
That was kinda a funny prank for those pompous, arrogant nobles. (but yeah, speaking seriously, it was an awful move from GW. Not the way to treat fond players)
