I have been thinking, since 9th age is coming along, and I have at times fantasized about different colour schemes.

Now seems to be a good time to start a second lizard army, hopefully with a more consistent colour scheme.

I don't know if I am going to actually do it, anyway I would like to know what you guys think. I have made some quick color schemes.

    I'm open to inspiration.

    Nice Photoshop skills. :D

    Kinda like the first one.

and maybe the black/blue one, but with the blue scales from the blue/white one.

    Thanks :D

What I am a bit worried about with these colour schemes is that it might become too much white or black/dark when it is a whole army. Maybe it won't actually be a problem.

I have already made some models with the with skin and red scales and I like it, but again, will it work with a whole army?

Well your skinks don't have to be exactly the same, only similar...

you could use 2 of the 3 colors that your Saurus have
or just use them on different parts of the model.

    so like:
Saurus with red scales and white skin and black shields.
    &
Skinks with white scales black skin red crest and red shields

I thought of making everything Saurus white with red scales, and everything Skink white with blue scales, and then have a couple of high ranking characters have yellow/golden scales.

Yeah, why not, it could work, to make them stand out a bit (a lot actually).

I will have to think it through, but there definately are a lot of possibilites with the Lizards.

My problem is that I like most colour schemes so it is hard to decide :p

They all look good, but for characters I would go dark grey skin and tan scales with shield being the same as your core troops.

Think if you do it black/yellow it might look like a bee!

Right I hadn't thought about that. Maybe I should do some more Photoshop to get an idea of how it looks.

I'm not a big fan of differentiating colors like that, but that's just me :D
Obviously one could do it since for instance sacred spawnings gave different colors, right? But I don't find it aesthetically pleasing :D

    @ASSASSIN_NR_1
Generally speaking I'm not a fan of too dark armies. Once the models are on the board it all just become on big black mess anyway. So dark models require quite the good skills IMO.

What are your favorite colors and do you want to do something unique with the weapons? Do you have a specific theme in mind (jungle, desert, volcanic, icy, venom/poisonous look, ancient, fierce etc)?

I think it may be a good idea to express what you had in mind and use that as guidelines. :D

Well that is part of the problem, I do like the idea of all of those themes. I do think I am going for something like stars. The idea came from AOS (shame on me), but I do think it still fits with the Lizardmen, like Tetto'eko and the Slann who read the future (or something like that) in the stars.
That doesn't narrow it down that much though, as stars could have many colours, and it becomes more of an interpretation of what stars look like. The typical thing to do here would be something dark with purples and blues, but I don't know about that.
If I go with either white or black, I could end up with a good result on individual models, but as an army it just might not work that well.

regarding weapons, I think I will do something in the line of what I am already doing, like my Slann's throne, Gor-Rok's shield or my Carnosaur's equipment.

Same here my skinks, well some are having a new scheme purple skin with grey scales or grey skin with purple scales.

Have a look at the Manticore I recently finished for an idea of "stars" this is what I will be attempting with the skinks.

I was googling around, how about something like this:

It's not a star of course, but it's a mix of both the black and white colors you mentioned.

If you're master with the paints you could do something like reversed shading - the color in the gabs between the scales could be very bright and the scales could be very dark blue?
I'm not entirely sure about the skin..

Skin has to be dark so you want to avoid Black as you still have to shade it and with a star pattern it just wouldn't look right, Dark green, blue, purple and red will work really well, funny how we both have the same vision.

Yeah your idea would work you could even do something like this take green as an example, paint the scales moot green, skin caliban, shade the skin and add very light edge in Moot green then paint your scales black and shade with caliban green, then dot your skin with stars.

Yeah, I kind of tried to represent something along those lines with this:

    608571LizarhggdmenSaurus.jpg

I assume that you mean something like this in between the scales:

    dsci0031re4yh.jpg

    But with bluish colours instead?

Yeah bright between scales and dark scales. Compared to the salamander I'd make the bright gab smaller - the scales appear rather small on that particular salamander ^^

Made me want to try it out haha :D
I was actually thinking of weapons having the same color as your Manticore or at least similar pattern. So for instance a mace would be a star-mace etc.

To fit the theme. I'm not quite sure about the metallic parts though. Bright silver perhaps to make it stand out. Depending on the color otherwise used.

Yes, gold for example could look a bit odd in that kind of color scheme. I guess it is because of it being a kind of warm color, while blue is more of a cool one. The silver might fit, but I personally never liked silver and Lizardmen, but maybe that is just because it have never worked out well for me.

Maybe some kind of other stone instead of metal.

You could always glaze the metallic to add colour
