AoS Mount traits

    So as we all know by this point, GW did not give us mount traits. So is there a chance if us getting them in a white dwarf or some other source? My current solution is just to have a permanent reroll saves of 1 for heroes on monsters which works ok.

    Aside from the lack of mount traits, if GW does give the stuff, what would we like to see?

    I would like to see activateable mount traits. Similar to BCR's Metal cruncher for Carnosaurs. Maybe an improvement of the Armored Crest on the Steggadon that allows it work against units of 10 or less. Generic extra movement traits, rerolls, and maybe some form of exploding 6's.

    Stegadon:

    Sharpened horns - Rend on horn attack is increased to -3

    Rampager - If you roll a 5 or 6 for Unstoppable Stampede, you can make another roll for that ability. If, after using this ability, there are no enemy units within 3", you can make another charge move immediately.

    Hardy - Once per turn in your hero phase, heal D3.

    Carnosaur:

    Savagery Incarnate - Add 1 to the rend Characteristic of mount attacks

    Jungle stalker - Add 4 inches to this units move characteristic and ignore terrain when making a move

    Apex Predator - Add 1 to wound rolls for attacks made by this mount against enemy Monsters

    Troglodon:

    Venomfiend - This models Noxious Spittle has an attack characteristic of D6 instead of D3.

    Lashing tails - Subtract 1 from hit rolls in melee that target this model.

    Blind fury - At the end of any phase in which this model suffered any wounds or mortal wounds, add 1 to the attacks characteristic of all this mount's melee weapons.

    Cold One: (no trait will make this thing good)

    Horned One - After this model has made a charge move, pick a unit within 1" and roll a dice. On a 2+ that unit suffers D3 mortal wounds.

    Iron Hide - Add 1 to save rolls for this model.

    Pack leader - Add 1 to the attack characteristic of any Cold One's Snapping Jaws wholly within 12".

    The Coldone Scar-Veteran isn't bad.

    I will happily spend 110MPP and a CP to give a unit of Saurus Warriors exploding 6's to hit.

    His CA is good, I just wish that from a combat perspective he was the Seraphon answer to Akhelian Kings and Lord Celestants on Dracoths.

    Also wish that he didn't look stupid :)

    Good points all around. I am happier with what he is for 110 then paying 220 to make him a Lord Celestant on Dracoth though. Our ScV on Carno is closer to the Lord Celestant on Dracoth both in point and damage.

    Technically the carnosaur is the best.

    nothing is better than a carnosaur. If you oppose my option you will be fed to the carnosaurs

    I am now unsure whether this is a testament to the fact that Carnosaurs are now an insanely good deal, or that Celestants have been left in the dirt by power creep.

    Probably both.

    Yeah it’s both. Carnosaurs may not be terrorgheists but they punch well above their weight in points. I’ve gone up against celestante in 2018 and even then they got bodied by a single Oldblood on Carnosaur

    Considering the size of the Carno, I had kind of hoped he would be a Terrorgheist-level threat before the new tome came out.

    After the tome, I'm kind of happy with them packing almost as much heat, but I can put four of them in a list and still have 1100 points left for other things!

    That said, if we get an FAQ that declares Oldblood Carnos cant be used in a Sunclaw for that spicy -2 jaw attack, I'll be a little disappointed.

    The -1 rend on the jaws is decent but that -2 is awesome. Let’s hope it doesn’t get FAQd (although I don’t play sunclaw, I play firelance). Another thing to do is add a rend artifact like blade of realities or dimensional blade on one of their weapons. A rend -2 damage 3 (4 against heroes!)spear with 3 attacks is scary as hell

    Every single rend point is important on units with high damage characteristics. With rend -2 you can simply deny save on 5+ infantry, removing that annoying lucky 6 possibility.

    And I don't think, that carnosaur should be as strong as terrogheist. Dread Saurian is our Dragon equivalent and he is good at it.

    Playing in a escalation league (before the virus scrap closed everything)
    3rd round 500pts
    Playing agaisnt the friend who got me into the game, main Skaven player.
    It felt SO good to surprise him with the new Carnosaur, tabling 60 clanrats and 2 ratling guns on turn 2 feels amazing.
    Needless to say I'm happy with the changes lol
    So I'm not sure we need Mount Traits, we could use minor ones like adding some move or adding -1 rend on stuff
