In order to keep myself motivated, I have decided to start this painting blog. First of all, I have to say that I'm in now way an expert painter. I've been away for the hobby for years and just recently started over again with lizzies. In this blog, you will find: - WIP pictures and comments on the units that are in my army. - Pictures of the final results. - Colors I've used. - Conversions I will make. I hope to produce the first entries of the blog by the end of next week, I'll be taking lots of pictures of the different steps. If you are interested in keeping up with the progress, expect weekly updates with some comments during the week as well. Also, feel free to bring constructive criticism, I think I can handle it, .
Re: My army - Painting Blog Here's a list of the models/units you can expect to see soon in this blog: - 2x20 Saurus Warriors, one unit with spears, one with HW and shield - 2x12 Skink Skirmishers with blowpipes - 16 Saurus Cold One Cavalry, 2 converted as mounted Scar-Vets, maybe one as a mounted BSB - 20 Temple Guards - 1 Scar-Veteran on foot - 2 Skink Priest - 1 Skink Chief - 1 Stegadon - 1 Slann-Mage Priest
Re: My army - Painting Blog Saurus Warriors: These guys will have their shield glued later on so they are easier to paint. Re: My army - Painting Blog Saurus Cold One Cavalry: Shield arm not glued yet on these guys, this makes them easier to paint. Work in progress pictures: The whole unit assembled: http://i869.photobucket.com/albums/ab256/SeBM_photos/Lizardmen/SCOC1.jpg Individual models: http://i869.photobucket.com/albums/ab256/SeBM_photos/Lizardmen/SCOC2.jpg http://i869.photobucket.com/albums/ab256/SeBM_photos/Lizardmen/SCOC3.jpg http://i869.photobucket.com/albums/ab256/SeBM_photos/Lizardmen/SCOC4.jpg http://i869.photobucket.com/albums/ab256/SeBM_photos/Lizardmen/SCOC5.jpg http://i869.photobucket.com/albums/ab256/SeBM_photos/Lizardmen/SCOC6.jpg
Re: My army - Painting Blog Temple Guards: Shield arm not glued, if you've read this far down, you know why!!! Work in progress pictures: The whole unit assembled: http://i869.photobucket.com/albums/ab256/SeBM_photos/Lizardmen/TG1.jpg http://i869.photobucket.com/albums/ab256/SeBM_photos/Lizardmen/TG2.jpg
Re: My army - Painting Blog Characters: Scar Veteran on Cold One: I made this guy using a standard SCoC rider. So far, I've added a shoulder plate armor and the spear on his left side. Shield arm will be glued later on so he's easier to paint. I will more then likely add some little details to the conversion but so far, I think he looks fairly good and it's a simple ''conversion''. Work in progress pictures: http://i869.photobucket.com/albums/ab256/SeBM_photos/Lizardmen/MSV1.jpg http://i869.photobucket.com/albums/ab256/SeBM_photos/Lizardmen/MSV2.jpg Update So I wasn't entirely happy with the way my mounted Scar-Veteran looked so I chopped his head off, gave him the smallest Temple Guard head I had in my bitz box, added a skull hanging down from his shoulder-plate armor and gave the guy a shield to see how he'd look (not glued yet, using blue tac). He definitely looks better and I'm pretty sure he'll make a nice character Work in progress pictures: http://i869.photobucket.com/albums/ab256/SeBM_photos/Lizardmen/MSV3.jpg http://i869.photobucket.com/albums/ab256/SeBM_photos/Lizardmen/MSV4.jpg
Re: My army - Painting Blog I added lots of work in progress pictures, nothing spcetacular yet but you can follow the progression of every unit.
Re: My army - Painting Blog Here are some pictures of my WIP Scar-Veteran conversion. To read more about it, scroll up to the Character post where I explain what I did. As always, constructive criticism is welcome.
Re: My army - Painting Blog Waiting to see some fully painted ones before putting too much of a comment, conversions are looking cool so far though. More people will probably comment if you have pic tags rather than just links as well.
Re: My army - Painting Blog Looks good and can't wait to see them fully painted. Are you aware though that you gave a saurus a spear and a drum stick instead of a spear and shield or a drum stick and a drum. Just found it a little odd lol
Re: My army - Painting Blog It's the picture, the saurus as a drum stick and nothing in the other hand yet. Thanks for the comments on the painting though.
Re: My army - Painting Blog Here an update on the progress of my army. With July already begun and me not doing anything at all in June, I decided to start working on my army again. While I didn't take part in the 24 hour painting challenge, here is what I did during the last 24 hours. I have 7 more of them coming up, 5 that shall be finished tonight and 2 that are basecoated. I shall post pictures of the full unit when I'm done. Please take note that these guys haven't been based properly yet, I need to get basing stuff back first. Constructive criticism is more then welcome.
Re: My army - Painting Blog Nice work SeBM, I especially like the Saurus Oldblood that you converted, how are the skinks coming along?
Re: My army - Painting Blog The skinks are mostly done, I have to finish some gold highlights and base them properly, I'll post a pick during the week-end. I'm starting to work on the Saurus regiment now. Thanks about the Scar-Vet conversion, it was really simple and it looks good, sadly, it's after the Saurus regiment, the TG unit, a salamander and a Scar-Vet on foot on my to do list!!! I'll be sure to update this blog on a more regular basis from now on though so keep yourselves tuned in!
So I haven't posted anything in a long while, getting a new job and moving into a new appartment kept me pretty busy. Here are some pictures of my almost finished Skink Skirmishers. Enjoy and constructive critism is welcome. I'll post more when they are completly finished. There will be some individual shots.
Some close-ups of the almost finished skink skirmishers. Also a Saurus champion/Scar-Veteran conversion.
I like the homemade blowpipe. I had to do one of those too and it ends up looking like a stage-magicians wand if you look too close. Luckily most people don't. Great job! --DF2K
