Hello everyone, I'm new on this forum and I'd like introduce myself by starting an army blog right away. My name is Bård and I'm from Norway. I've been playing and painting Warhammer since 2006, even though it was mostly talk and purchases in the beginning. During this time I've taken plenty of breaks from the hobby, some lasting a few weeks, others a few years. I most recently started again in 2011, when I repainted my Skaven, and I've been steadily building that army ever since. I picked up the Lizardmen book and a box of saurus warriors when I visited Aberdeen this fall. I remember how I instantly fell in love with the current saurus models when they were launched way back in time. And I think they've aged quite well. I've always been fond of lizards and dinosaurs, and I'm just loving the brutal, yet sophisticated army that the Lizardmen army seems to be. The model range is astounding, so this is going to be fun! So here are my first 12 warriors, bases not completed: 16 more coming up: I've decided to paint core units with a fairly fast method, as I have used too much time fiddling with unimportant details on the slaves and clanrats of my Skaven army. I'd rather use some extra time on monsters and characters. Even so, I do think the saurus are a little.. tame? I've been thinking of adding some warpaint to their heads and faces. If I were to do that, what color do you think would fit? Anyway, I'm pleased to be here, seems like a great community!
Glad to see another edition to our ranks! It's so sad that no one greeted you before now but i have been very busy lately. Your paint scheme looks really great and I'm looking foward to seeing more work. Your units look pretty solid for beeing a "fast method" tbh! I do also have a soft spot for an original paint scheme!
Very promising. I like the purple back scales with turquoise back ridges. It's a very aesthetically pleasing combo that I wouldn't have guessed would look good before seeing it in the flesh. Your models are well executed and your attention to detail is very good. I look forward to seeing more of your work. EDIT: They were done in the last six months right?I would suggest entering those Skinks in the Skinkathalon coming up.
I seccond that, great painting and paint schemes all around. Ps. Red and white warpaint would look pretty kool.
Sorry for being late for the party, I always forget the whole Paint Logs subforum... Really nice and tidy work so far, I like the colours you are using. Would it be possible to get any close ups of a single Saurus? And for warpaint, you'd probably want to use something striking and very different from your current colours. I'd vote for red or very bright green. Good luck with your painting!
Hi guys, Thanks for all the kind words. I've actually decided to forgo the warpaint, as I'm finding it hard to keep my pace up. Anyway, since last time I've buffed up the Saurus unit substantially, started on a Stegadon and nearing completion on my Skink Priest. First rainbow try: Saurus, now completely based: Close up Saurus for Caprasauridae (ain't no world class ):
Not world class? How modest! Seriously dude this is solid work, love the color choice and the clean painting.
You've painted these really well! I especially love the Stegadon. Ps. how can you possibly collect SKAVEN along with LIZARDMEN!!!!!!????????
Thanks for the feedback! As for collecting Skaven and Lizardmen... I'm trying to make them commit to a peace treaty. I think I underestimated the extent of the task, it isn't going that well
Holy moly. Amazing looking models. If I could paint even half as well as you I would be extremely pleased. I'm digging the purple, man! Keep it up.
Hi folks, Just a little update. I'm done with my skink priest and I've started on some sharp, edge highlighting on the stegadon. Instead of putting many subsequent layers on top of each other, I figure I can save a lot of time by doing it this way. Any thoughts? Edit: the pictures came out a little too bright, sorry about that.
Great looking Steg and the Skin Priest too. Nice color schemes and they both look ready to rrrrrummmmbbbbllle!!!
Very nice painting (both in scheme and skill)! Those saurus are wonderful. I like the progress on the Skink Priest and Stegadon too! Keep up the good work and keep the updates coming.
