Hello and good morning comrades, After being away from the hobby for 15 years I couldn't resist that urge to come back, and to AoS no less! I'm a gent of 33 years and to be completely honest, a bit of a child at heart....always wanted to cross off that "have a fully painted army" from the proverbial bucket list. Upon deciding to go down the scaly path I finally find myself here on Lustria. Having had a look around the site before joining I find it remarkable how open and friendly the community seems to be, along with all the unique models and colour schemes. I've not bought any models yet but I'm sure the start collecting box is usually the way to go. I've many questions, but they are of course for another thread at another time. Looking forward to getting to know everyone! Ved
And a hello to you too! Officially a minute younger here than me so I claim authority as the old blood of us both.
Welcome to another Brit! I've never played AoS, but played a bit of 8th. My club have, however, reverted to 6th edition WHFB, and I must say, I'm loving it! You're right about the community on this forum, very friendly, helpful and open. I know when I first started with Lizardmen a few years ago, I was pointed in the right direction for army/character building. And yes, my bucket list also includes the painted army thing!
Hi Gary! Technically I am a Scott, but thanks for the warm welcome I Can't wait to get started, but doing the sensible thing and waiting for payday at the end of the month instead of spending money I don't have....the curse of having to be a mature adult (Grumbles). Are your models fully painted? Never played Pre-AoS, was always a 40k player many moons ago. I'm guessing in 6th you must have had a blanket of filed/ranked miniatures covering every square inch of the table?
Welcome to Lustria! If you're picking the Start Collecting, this thread will be of great help to you.
Until wee Nicola Crankie, sorry Sturgeon, gets her way, your still British lol! (My mother was Scottish (Orcadian to be exact) and I love the place, so I am joking!). I know the curse of having a mature adult, well two actually. The buggers seem to eat cash lol. Where in Scotland are you? No not fully painted. I’m getting there but I am both a poor painter and glacially slow. It’s not too bad re rank and file. But have 25 Saurus with hand weapons, another 25 with spears and 30 skinks nearly done. 30 Temple Guard about half done plus lots of other stuff from undercoated to nearly half done.
Hahaha yeah god what a state our land is in right now! I'm up in Aberdeen but we are blessed with having a latrge GW store. Wow and I've yet to paint one! .....but carry on friend, slow and steady wins the race as they say
Lovely place Aberdeen and the north east of Scotland. Good luck with the painting! I have a deadline of early October as I’m booked to do my first ever fantasy tournament (6th Edition). I think I might just make it lol. Keep going with the cold bloods!
Welcome aboard always nice to get a new member If you need any painting tips or advice be sure to post in the painting forum.
Thank you Crowsfoot, that is appreciated. I'm quickly aquainting myself with the various forums and posts already. Your start collecting thread is really good - I had no idea the Seraphon SC set was so versatile! While I have already made my own thread seeking painting advice, I would welcome any and all feedback on the subject matter. I'll be buying the start collecting set at the end of the month but want to have a strong idea of where to begin even before that. Really appreciating the warm welcome from everyone. I find myself looking forward to logging on here as each day goes. Ved
