Hey everyone. I am fairly new to warhammer however did paint lord of the rings as a teenager when they were released, ive decided to dive into a lizardman army due to all the apeealing range of colours and awsome models plus i realy have a thing for reptiles. I have 1 box of saurus 1 box skinks and battalion box my question is is it frowned upon to paint a different unit of saurus an entirly different scheme? For example, saurus warriors a different schem to CORs or even temple gaurd also im going to save my temple gaurd as the last thing i paint before i paint any hero/lord or monster for that matter.

Welcome Ken, paint them any colour you choose but if you want a army that looks cohesive it can get difficult, a good way to tie your models together is with accent colours, shields all the same colour across your army as an example and when you base them, baseing them all the same colour will tie them together nicely.

Hi there! I love the freedom Lizardmen give to me, basically there are no restrictions on what colours you should use. It's totally ok to paint different unit types with different colours, but you should try to give them some unifying colours or schemes. For example, all my Skinks are the same colour, whether they are Skirmishers, Terradon Riders or part of the Stegadon crew. But Skinks have different colours than Saurus. Also, I think you can paint dinosaurs to almost whatever colour you choose. If you have two Stegadons, they don't have to be the same colour, unless you want them to. To me, that's awesome!

Personally I think GW really nailed the colours on the Lizardmen, the blue lizards are brilliant! (I just have a need to not do what GW does, so had to try something different. I could never play Space Marines, too restricting...).

Not much to criticize, it looks really good. Maybe the shield looks a bit flat. I think you have already washed it, but a heavier wash, especially to the crevices, could make it pop out more.

Use a detail brush and spot wash the crevices with Agrax earthshade or Nuln oil it will make the shield really pop

Quick update on the skink units. Just quickly, can skinks with blow pipes still hold a shield.
