One of the guys in the area is selling some of the old Lizardmen models from the 90s.

Out of curiosity, who uses old models from that time period now for AoS? What's the relative size difference?

(Models I'm getting are: Skinks with Bows, pre-crest Saurus, and a metal Stegadon)

I have a few of the skinks 10 I’m debating either paint them like the other and mix them in as either spit and shield or spit and club or paint them differently and use them as chameleons skinks... skinks are a bit small and so are the saurus, the saurus kinda looks like tiny Kroxigor to be honest lol

The saurus stand at similar height (but they're smaller since they are posed more upright than the newer sculpts) so they don't look that out of place. But the skinks are quite small.

I use the old Tehenhauin as a Starpriest and sometimes priest. My army is painted as fangs of sotek, so it makes sense.

I have 40 skinks with bows, and 3 metal stegadons that i use as standard steggies (for the EotG, I've the modern model)

they both are smaller than their actual counterpart, but in AoS size don't matter… what's important is the size of the base. Use a current stegadon base for the metal old one and you'll be fine.
For skinks, that could be more… problematic, if we're talking about a lot of bases

Correct base size is certainly important, but I would urge people to try and mimic somewhat same height as the current “correct” models, simply due to how line of sight works. Either that, or live with your opppnent pretty much always having line of sight to the model by default so you arent “modelling for advantage”.

The old skinks blend kind of ok with boltspitters w/ clubs. They even make sense, rulewise.

I use the Saurus as separate units (old ones/ even older ones), with clubs obviously.

Roughly how much taller is the new Stegadon over the old one would you say?

Yeah, the old carno is what? half the actual height? That was not exactly impressive, but i still have fond memories of it.
