So I have finally gotten the painting bug (I havent had it in years) and so It is time to paint some lizardmen.

I am going step by step and painting my 60+ skinks with javs and shields.

    So here is the beginning

    http://i.imgur.com/Cd8bCTI.jpg

For some reason my last post didnt come through...

anyways 1st step was air bushing a base coat of Sotek, no primer

2nd step is washing the hole model with green shade

3rd step is dry brushing with Temple guard blue

Okay so Im just gonna have to get used to the time delay when I post...

Okay so 2nd step for the skinks....

    http://i.imgur.com/i2gMW7O.jpg

I have cleaned up and smoothed out some of the dry brushing on the left skink with a little watered down temple guard

on the right I have washed some kantor blue on his back....

    http://i.imgur.com/dpo93Az.jpg

I currently have 40 of my 60 skinks that look like this...I skipped ahead on some and did the weapons

The weapons are just abaddon black for the tip (watered down a bit) and Mournfang brown for the shaft...I am following the white dwarf so I will be adding brass scorpion to the metal on the javs and jewelry...

    Thanks for viewing..

Okay so here is my next step for the skinks...Brass scorpion for metal...no wash on it yet, no highlight...

    http://i.imgur.com/Pem0epL.jpg

I have also uploaded my 1st attempt at painting a stegadon

This one was another product of air brushing, washing, and dry brushing...

    http://i.imgur.com/ArrrKZO.jpg

    http://i.imgur.com/mJUnQuV.jpg

I was going to air brush it with khorn red but its hard to get a good consistency with the bases without medium and I was out so I used some old blood red I still had lying around...

I then washed with old devlan mud...then I went back in and dry brushed with blood red (it was really really old) and added some elf flesh dry compound to ad some basic highlights...I need to add more color and highlights...

Good looking stuff so far. Definitely lots more to be done but off to a good start. I particularly like the color you chose for the stegadon.

Okay so I have started some RipperDs...

This scheme comes straight from the white dwarf.

1st step, I spray with jokero orange
    http://imgur.com/DPU89lh

Next step, dry brush body with old tallarn Flesh and then line with really old elf flesh
    http://i.imgur.com/9QJPJoC

Now its time for a wash of Reikland Flesh shade (I skipped the Bestigor on the wings)
    http://i.imgur.com/TnHKSxL.jpg

At this point I dry brush the wings with Ungore flesh
    http://imgur.com/gdkwA1H

Now I striped the wings with squig oranges (I could have saved myself 4 bucks and used jokero again but meh)
    http://imgur.com/xVgqy8M

then I screwed around with some doombull brown 2 make some more marks on the wings...
    http://imgur.com/Rw3IdRP

and here are all 3 ripper ds...I still need to detail their collars and claws and teeth but the basic stuff is done...

So I moved on to my Carnosaur...

So from these two steps you can see that I Based Black. I then dry brushed the hell out of the bottom with Celestra grey.
    http://imgur.com/SiNSfyG

    http://imgur.com/Q6FlGIU

So after that I began my free hand strips using jokero orange...also drybrushing the hell out of it...I am drybrushing to give the effect of fading without airbrushing since I am not comfortable with my airbrushing yet to try it on a model...

I also drybrushed ulthuan grey on the original grey, trying to leave some of the original...
    http://imgur.com/JchT7HY

So as you can see I am going for the white dwarf orange stripy carnosaur...as of right nof i think I am going to have some black strips going up and down into the orange and grey...

as for the bottom, I want to wash it with something, (maybe a blue) and then dry brush again...maybe have some dark grey stripes on his belly...

I also plan on trying blood for the blood god blood splatter on his mouth and claws...I will have to try it on a spare model first...

    Any ideas for me? THanks..

I have just found the holy grail for getting lizardmen coldone riders on dark elf cold ones. The old metal cold one rider legs.

I will post pictures later but the old metal legs sit on top pretty nicely and dont wrap around the side the way the new plastics do...

I am referring to the old godzilla looking cold one riders

i found a guy selling 5 boxes new in box for 25 a box...i bought 2 but i may be buying the rest soon...

Okay do I have not painted in a long while. I was painting back when my dog died under bad circumstances. it was to keep my from doing nothing but being sad and pissed. Anyways its a year later and i really havent painted much.

So when I left I had 3 rippers mostly done, a stegadon mostly done, a carnosaur mostly done, and 48 skinks almost completely done...the constant is that NOTHING was fully done. I need to change that...the problem is that I have bought A FREAKING LOT...

on my painting table now I have

2 Carnosaurs, with scar vets or old bloods, no weapons...
2 bastiladons, both partially painted, their solar engines not painted and skinks not painted
3 stegadons, all in various stages of painted, no hoodas or skinks painted
2 salamanders and their skinks not based
1 razordon and skinks not based
35 Warriors in an old paint scheme with hand weapons
20 templeguard in old paint scheme
    24 skinks with blowpipes
106 skinks with javs with shields in various stages of paint
9 rippers, mostly painted, skinks partially painted
3 terradons mostly painted, skinks partially painted
3 boxes of old godzilla cold ones (i got them all for 40 bucks total)
the cold ones that came with the battleforce and 5 DE cold ones in the middle of being converted
    1 slann
    1 tetto
2 chiefs (from the stegadon kits) (I made 1 into a blood bowl player)
1 priests from the steg kits (I made 2 into blood bowl players)
1 priest from the clam pack
2 priests I made with the carnosaur kit
1 gor-rok and the only fully painted model I have (a friend painted him for helping him move)

so at the very least I have 5200 points and I think I dont need to buy any more...time to paint

I'm keen to see some more models, however I have to ask:
Can you pust them using the "pic" function? Clicking on links is quite inconvenient in this most convenient of ages we live in!

So here is my 2nd steg...i started him today...
1st is a base of Genestealer Purple
2nd I painted his top scales with naggaroth night...I was not going for a very clean look
3rd I dry brushed his bottom half with lucius lilac
4th I did a heavy wash of drakenhof nightshade
normally i would wash then drybrush but i was experimenting...it looks good but i will probobly do some more dry brushing...

I thought I had posted my 1st bassy but apparently not. since its late and i want to sleep i will post my 1st tomorrow. So here is my 2nd bassy....
This was another speed project I started 3 weeks ago...my father-in-law had surgery and i was basing some models with the airbrush for him so i decided to base this and 2 of my stegs...youve seen the purple...there is 1 more...
So to start off I hate lining so naturally i lined, and its okay but i think i need to dry bush a little more to tone it down.

    1. I started by airbushing a base of bugman glow on the whole thing
    2. I then painted with a brush heavy caliban green.
    3. I washed the bottom with flesh shade
    4. I drybrushed the bottom with cadian
    5. I lined and drybrushed in warpstone...

    mSjVvB0.jpg

    1Oo3eao.jpg

and remember I would be happy to hear any way to improve on them. I am mostly a drybrusher so if you see any way to improve them tell me. Thanks

I like it. the green is very in-your-face, which I think is what you were going for?

I found the bastilladon tricky in the deciding on what designs to paint on its shell, I ended up going a dark brown with red splotches around the outside.

What are you thinking of doing with yours?

As for the Steg, what colour are you thinking of doing the scales (it'll need to contrast, otherwise there'll be just too much purple haha)

I didnt really have an in your face moment...i liked the picture on the box and tried to copy it...Im not exactly a professional painter but I liked how i got it...

i am trying to figure out how to splotch up the top of his shell...a few layers of green and a wash to tone the edges...I also think I want a dark wash in the crevasses of the shell...

in the end all of the lizard men will be temple guard color so I think the different color dinos plus the constant look of the lizards can look good...we shall see...

splotch as in the green marks on the side of the shell...in some of them they are orange...

also what color would go well with the purple steg...Im thinking of drybrushing cream on the scales...at the same time I was thinking of making the bottom half even lighter (drybrushing again)

Your Bastilodon is looking good. Your idea of a dark wash in the crevasses between the shells. And some green layers and wash should really make it look cool.

I like the idea of the cream on the steg. There is just too much purple now, and the cream should provide a good contrasting color to help tone down that purple glow. Try this before lightening the lower part of the steg. That may not be necessary once the cream dry brush is on the scales.

Really enjoy the photos of your progress with the painting.

I would try a dark blue on the steg scales, then give it a was with the red wash. drybrush over the top with a bluey grey and see if that looks any good. (red wash to make it look like it belongs on top of purple skin)
Just try it in a small area and make sure the paint is thin because if you don't like it, you can paint over it ;)

so While i work on multiple things, this is another speed job on another steg

So this is another speed deal but i tried lining instead of dry brushing...I am not a fan of this lining and see dry brushing coming to it to feather it out...
    1. Base the entire thing incubi darkness
    2. Bottom gets kabalite green
    3. Line it up with sybarite green

So this was another quick spray and drybrush job...obviously WIP as I have not finished 1 lizardmen model...
    :/

I think I did these 2 months ago...

    1. Base Castellan
    2. Wash Camoshade
    3. Drybrush loren forest
    4. Drybrush Elysian green
    5. Small drybrush Ogryn Camo (edges)

I am following instructions on this one so it will be rakarth wings with a dark wash for the crevices and then more rakarth...
