I didn't think anyone was interested in my (hopefully) slightly above average painting skills, since I got no responce. Anyhow I have been very busy with my work, so only got a minor update. Haven't done as much painting as I would like. This was my very first attempt at painting a light effect. Overall, took my three tries, but I am happy with the result EDIT: Oh, and I did a little conversion on my ripperdactyl heads.
Nice to see your lighting effects on the solar crystal. I just assembled my Bastilodon with the Beam of Chotec and I have not really painted light effects before. This definitely gives me some ideas.
oops, I did forget the nostrils, Thanks!! Perhaps you can help me with something. I wanted to paint a lighting effect on the Solar Engine, and while I am pretty satisfied (as this is again my first try), there is room for improvement. For starters, the green light source, the stripes, need to be brighter. Any ideas?
Perhaps you could try doing something like what you did with the crystal; right now the lines are just one colour green from what I can see anyway. Try adding a yellow to white glow (drybrush maybe?) on the outside of the lines perhaps, maybe even in the lines themselves. It should brighten it up more, in the very least give the impression it's glowing.
My bastiladon is coming together nicely. I did plan to use yellow in the glowlines on the circuit board, but figured that, if I had to repaint it anyway, might as well try a different shade of green. And I think this looks great. Tell me what'ya think. Does anyone have any points for improvement?
I'm really liking the green effect. You done good in making it "pop" and look like something is actually happening.
Big beasty is finished. Took a while, but I am happy with the result. Actually, this guy is on display right now in my local GW shop (rotterdam), for the "model of the year painting competition". so If you want to see it up close (and perhaps vote xD), drop by if you're in the neightbourhood.
