Im redoing my Lizardmen, and thought i would share my progress with you guys.

Im Repainting old minis and some newly aquired ones and the updates will be pretty frequent as im in a gaming group who (obviously) likes to see as many painted minis as possible on the table.

If you have any pointers and/or hints and tips feel free to share them with me, or if you would like to know how i painted certain things be sure to ask and i will answer =)

Very nice job on both models. How did you do the gold work on the skink? Can't wait to see more.

That's definitely quite the task you've set yourself - not sure I could be bothered in repainting my older models, even if they look like they sorely need it!

I like the mottled skin of the Slann, and his eyes are very well done!

    Thanks a bunch guys!

Yes it may quite some work to redo stuff but i started 2 years ago with lizardmen as one of my first armys and im not happy with the paint job i did back then, and since they are my favourit army (both model range and playstyle) i would like to try and do them justice now that i have improved my painting.

And its not to bad, i have a total of maybe 4k points and just half of that is painted.

@Nightbringer : For the gold part i just used the Whitedwarf Lizardmen guide, Its Baltazhar Gold, Agrax earthshade, Scygorax bronze, golden griffon and seraphim sephia, very simple and i also love the way it looks =)

@Assassin_nr_1 : The Planet orb thingys is also simple, just pick a colour like Green, base the whole thing, add white to the green and apply thin watered down stripes BUT only go in one direction, add more white and repeat, add more white and repeat and finnaly pure white, then i Glazed the whole thing with Waywatcher green to tie it togheter.

This works with evey colour, just use diffrent glazes or washes to tie it all togheter.

Hope this helps, and thanks alot for the great feedback!

Just a small update on the Slann today.

Im thinking about painting the rims on the chair with Gold, or just leave it as it is and just paint the vines, leaves and horns, what do think?

The horn handles will be gold nevertheless.

Do it gold Mook, I think it will draw your eye in to focus on the slann.

Ive just started painting after 23 years, nearly finished a set of cold ones so will post a thread up.

Also which edition of White Dwarf was it, did a google search and it said August 2013, I would love a copy.

I think you are right crowsfoot, will probably go the gold route.

Yes its the August 2013 issue, some very good tutorials and reference pics of lizardmen in that one.

Do start up a thread, always fun to follow peoples progress :D

    Thanks!

Found it on Ebay for a £1 sorted.

I bought the Dark vengence set pained all the Dark angels and Hell brute then my boy (aged 8) decided he likes Elves so I put the set on ebay indvidually and made a profit of £60 (my time was good practice)

Spent it all on LM and quite a bit more as well, the minis are great love them.

Started on my oldblood, this is a pretty rough work in progress and far from done, And i feel the cold one is missing something colour wise, any sugestions? Im thinking about adding something more to the scales or something.

Pausing this one until i can figure something out ;)

Hey Mook love that colour scheme on the cold one, I've just got some of the dark elf cold ones for the same project.

Regarding yours I think the under belly needs to be lighter giving more contrast with the scales, then darken the eye area to really make the eyes pop, even if you don't it looks great.

Thanks! Nice tips, will have to think about how to proceed with this guy :). Definatly going to brighten the lower parts, also thinking about a contrast colour on top like light blue to tie rider and mount togheter a bit.

    Peace

Maybe more gold on the cold one?, if you go blue it could draw your attention away from the rider.

Got my white dwarf and im using the gold technique it really look good don't think I will use any other combination, hopefully have my blog started when new forum is up.

Another WIP, this is how i work, alot of WIP's hehe , i want paint on as many models as possible its more fun to play like that ;).

Anyway here is my Chief on Terradon.
I have high hopes for this guy! Only some details on the bird left and ofcourse the actual rider.

I went for a very fast drybrush and glazing route here, with alot of experimenting, it ended up like this haha.

:artist: I am really digging the paint on the terradon.
Especially the coloration on the head and wings.

Oooo, that's really nice! It almost has a fish-scale look to it, but the red tips keep it seeming like flesh. :cigar:
