Have been a player of GW games since early 90's and had most fantasy armies back in the old world. With the end times I started playing Heresy to fill the void of fantasy (tried AOS a few times with others who didn't really know the rules and just could not get into it). With the start of 8th I had moved across to 8th and the heresy scene has taken a nose dive but there has always been something pulling at me to give AoS one last try. So decided to go with it, as Lizardmen was an army i had never played thought it would be perfect to try. So start collecting book along with GHB17 and i'm going to give it a go.

Question do i need anything else to start with (Seraphon Battletome?) or is that enough.

    Thanks

Battle tome and GHB17 is all you need really, do you own any Lizardmen/Seraphon yet?

Have you built it all yet?

You can build extra with a little bit of magic ;)

That's a good start. I'd suggest to build a Carno ans use the Trog's skink to model a skink priest.
Next purchase could probably be a second box and some skinks.

    Welcome aboard! :)

Thanks for the warm welcome. Only managed to build the cold ones so far. I have seen people saying that you can get a lot out of the box if done right, is it straight forward or is there any posts out there on it?

    Welcome!

You can convert one Knight to a Scarvet, and if you build a Carnosaur you can use the leftover Troglodon rider to build a Skink Priest.

    Welcome aboard!

Personally I'd only go with the Battletome if you know you definitely want to stick with AoS. All the Warscrolls are online and on the app, and most other abilities you might want are listed in the General's handbook. The only thing you'd really need the Battletome for is the Battalions, although it also has lots of great lore, possible paint schemes and Battleplans, so if you like Lizardmen/Seraphon then it is a good buy.

If your creative and don’t mind doing some converting etc I think you can get the following from a SC box,

    Scarvet on Carny
    10 warriors
    5 knights
    1 scarvet on cold one
    Skink priest
    Troglodon
    Oldblood on foot
    Astrolith bearer

I’m just starting building the basics and seeing what I can make with the bits left over, hopefully have it up next week.

Thanks again for the responses. I think i will build the basics (5 knights, 10 Warriors, Carno) then look at what else i can make with the remaining parts. I'll be starting a painting thread on here soon just need to make enough progress to make it worth it.
WRT the Battletome i'll give it a few games and if i like the game i'll definitely invest in it.

I'm almost done with the tutorial so hopefully early next week, I've built the following so far.

    Scar vet Carny
    Troglodon
    5 Knights
1 Scar vet on cold one
    1 Sunblood/oldblood on foot
    1 Astrolith bearer
    1 Skink priest

I may be able to get something else out of the kit, not sure yet
