i just recently got Saurus Guard, and they’re so few in numbers that I’m debating whether the drum is worth taking. Thoughts?
It doesnt cost points and if I'm not mistaken the musicians are assumed to have the normal weapons as well, so there isnt a reason not to. I'm pretty sure that's how it works but I've been wrong before haha Edit: page 13 of the core rules, all musicians and standard bearers etc. Are assumed to have normal weapons like the rest of the unit. So, even if you never plan on running your guard, you arent losing anything by modeling a drum, and you never know!
I thought having musician models in a unit allows a better modifier or a reroll in some situations? (I forget what...)
In Age of Sigmar at least, having a Saurus Musician allows you to march instead of running or charging, doubling your move characteristic instead. It’s basically a guaranteed extra 5” run, and since as @CitizenCake said the model is treated as having normal weapons otherwise anyway, it’s definitely worth taking - same with the standard bearer.
effectively by the rules as written, every single member of your warrior unit could have both a drum and a banner, with the sole exception of the Alpha. knights are the same way: https://www.instagram.com/wilson.lu...tm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=1ebjz1i3hi3in
