nice work guys - i particularly like the base on the Slann - those are some damn huge snakes though!

 

Thanks for correcting me Strewart, I'm a 40k noob and didn't feel like heading over to GW's site last night to double check what I wrote. I should really be less lazy but now that I'm almost done unpacking in the new house, I should have time to relax and paint !

Thank you all for participate. As Baron Pierre de Coubertin (who rebuilt the olympic games) said : "The most important is not to win but to participate" ^^.

This is my first painting challenge and I'm very excited ahaha.

All the pics are very beautiful !! Special congratulation to the skink brave on terradon !! I don't know who has painted this miniature but it's a very nice job !! I will give one of my two voices to it !! (and I think I will steal a lot of your idea for my terradon's army if you agree ^^).

WOW, there are some fantastic painters here, I love the dark elf sorceres which I'm guessing has been repurposed as a slaanesh model from the pink colours and the symbols on the skirt. I really like each entry, top notch.

 

That dark elf is stunning, congrats to whoever painted it, she turned out amazing.

 

I like the DE sorc and the Slann; the Sorceress' hair kind reminds me of toothpaste. Still, way better than what I can do.

That Dark Elf sorceress (which is amazing, btw) looks like the most breakable model ever.

 

i find the most interesting thing is that out of 24 voting ppl (at the moment), only 22 has chosen the DE as one of their 2 choices. No offence guys, but none of the others are even close in skill to that one, not even the slann (wich is the obvious second place). there are hence 2 ppl who are bilnd who managed to vote anyway. can you get this site in a Braille-browser?

 

I did not vote for the Dark Elf sorceress. While I do agree that the painting skill and technique shown is the best of entries, the choice of colour let the model down in my opinion. Overall it looks very washed out and pale, having no contrasting dark areas on the model I believe detracts from the overall look of it. I thought long and hard about whether I should let this effect my vote, and eventually decided it was enough since at first glance I honestly thought two others looked more striking. And if we were going on technique alone not colour choice, we could all just paint balls.

Of course, not to detract from the Sorceress at all it is a very nice model and very well painted. I also did not think doing that would stop the Sorceress from winning, which it certainly deserves to.

 

I quite like the pastel effect on the dark elf model myself.

Congratulations to everyone who participated, especially those of you who submitted finished models. The results were amazing and it is an inspiration to a lot of forumers to see such awesome miniatures fully painted and converted!

For those of you awaiting the next challenge, expect a new post to come in a week or so, I'll check a couple of things with Strewart among others before starting it.
