    I agree. Picard is the best.
    ...although I can't judge Archer or that new guy as I haven't watched more than a few parts of few episodes of Star Trek since Voyager ended.
    As an old Trekkie I was too angry about Enterprise series. Damn unnecessary prequel that damaged the continuity IMO.

    I have met an astonishingly large number of people who don't though.
    People whose lists basically look reversed to mine, putting Archer, Kirk, and Janeway above Sisko, with Picard dead last.

    ...weird world.

    Agree. All of them had their good moments but Picard just was a captain how you imagine him and he acted consistently.
    And I think Patrick Stewart being an actor with much class played a major role in making that character so successful.

    I really like Patrick Stewart. Like you said, a complete class act. I will mostly definitely be watching this new series.

    Me too, one of my favourite actors. I basically liked him in every movie I saw, even in ST:Nemesis or that weird 80s Dune movie. When I heard he was cast as Charles Xavier I was thrilled.
    So yeah, also going to watch that series, even though he hinted at wanting to play Picard very differenty, so I might actually not like it, but that won't stop me. :)

    He was perfect for that role. Absolutely perfect.


    In terms of Star Trek, my two favourite characters of all time are Picard and Data.


    He is a smart man, I don't think there is much to fear.

    My other favourites are Garak, Odo, Worf, Spock, O'Brien, Sisko, the Doctor, Neelix, Quark, Rom and Grand Nagus Zek (DS9).

    I'd say my least favourites are Wesley (which is coincidentally why I also hate Ahsoka because she's so much like him), Beverly, Kira and Kai Winn (DS9). Wesley because he's an insufferable know-it-all, Beverly because she does too much trying to make herself look attractive and not enough doctoring, Kira because she keeps going on about how her people were brave and heroic when in fact they were no better than their Cardassian Oppressors and Kai Winn because she's just plain evil, more so than Gul Dukat in my view (at least before when he goes mad when Ziyal dies).

    Garak and the Doctor are good picks, I enjoyed them a lot as well.
    Rom is only good in the later episodes, but then he is really cool.
    Quark...I laughed a lot about him but he never was a favourite of mine, same for Neelix.

    One of my favourites as a kid, but later... yeah. More annoying than anything else.

    Other characters I didn't like much, although I'll only include the ones that weren't designed to be hated:
    - Kes. Just... boring to me.
    - Chakotay. A damn shame what they did to the character. I actually liked the concept a lot but they let Janeway do everything and he was benched.
    - Jake Sisko. Just... meh.
