Hello everyone ! I'm very new to the game, I haven't played Warhammer at all before, also at a very fresh community that is filled with people who hasn't played before. I'm looking to start with the Seraphons. It seems that my community will aim to hold tournaments at 1000 pts for a start. From my Start Collecting Seraphon box, what other units should I be looking into to build a decent 1000 pt army ? At the moment the book and the stats seem like gibberish to me so I don't really know which one is good or suitable with the start collecting box. Thank you very much ! I'm looking forward to be a regular at the game
Well with the start collecting box, it you get creative you can make From the Carno/Trog portion Oldblood on Carnosaur Oldblood on foot Skink priest/Starpriest You could make 5 knights and 2 scar vets on cold ones. A few modifications to make them stand out, maybe the leftover head (I think there are 3) from the Carnosaur kit. Some feathers and other bits, whatever to make them stand out. Next I would buy Razordons or salamanders. And when in the budget guard/more warriors. If you find yourself upping the point value I recommend Sunblood and Eternity Warden. At 1500-2000 points you could do a Bloodclaw starhost. Here's a quick example 1000 army that is mostly from the get started box with a few conversions: Leaders Saurus Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur (260) - General Saurus Scar-Veteran on Cold One (100) Saurus Oldblood (100) - Suntooth Maul Skink Starpriest (100) Units Saurus Knights x 5 (120) - Blade Saurus Warriors x 10 (100) - Club Saurus Guard x 5 (100) (sold separately) Razordons x 2 (120) (sold separately) Total: 1000/1000
In this situation two or three start collectings and a few heroes to buff with will be very scary. Triple carno kill squad with a blob a warriors to tie up enemy heroes and knights to cap objectives seems pretty solid. For this kind of list i would take: 1000 points: General: scar vet on carno:260 Battleline: 20 warriors: 200 Ten knights: 240 Ten knights: 240 I know that there is no magic in this first list, but the speed and damage output of it is insane. A squishy starpriest seems to not fit in in my oppinion. If you want to go knight heavy maybe this: General: Scar vet on carno: 260 Hero: skink starpriest: 160 Battline: 5 knights:120 5 knights:120 10 knights:240 10 warriors:100 This one is pretty simple, kinghts and carno attacking, warriors staying back and guarding starseer. These both require quite a bit of stuff though, so maybe change the lists to make them starter friendly.
Thank you for replying ! Unfortunately you lost me there at conversions. Is it legal to customise figures in Warhammer AoS ? To make them look and function as a different unit altogether ? Thank you for the reply ! So this means the simplest way for me to upgrade is just buy another start collecting box ? And where can one get the point value of each unit ? Because I don't seem to be able to find them anywhere. Thanks !
It is legal, as long as everyone knows what it is. Same base size same models, just if your own choosing. Using an elf as your scar vet would not go over so well, but here with the starter kit you can do it. You can eother buy the generals handbook for points or go here: General's Handbook Leaks Or: http://www.scrollbuilder.com
Battlescribe has the points. That is what i use. Extra start collectings are great, and you can probably convert your own saurus heroes. I converted my astrolith from that. I think most places will allow conversions though.
Hello ! I'm back. I've been assembling my models and thought about the conversions. Frankly I can see how converting into a Scar Veteran on a cold one will work, but a Skink Starpriest seems to be way over my head at the moment. Im not sure how to build skinks while all I have is a bunch of burly muscular Saurus.
The carosaur kit comes as a dual build carno and trog. If you build the carno, you should have the trog rider (Skink oracle) parts left over to build the skink.
Ah thank you ! After looking at the Battletome for the Seraphons, I think i pretty much fancy a Firelance Starhost list. What's the best way for me to get to that on 1000pts ? Thank you so much !
I might do something like this: Leaders Saurus Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur (260) Skink Starpriest (100) Saurus Scar-Veteran on Cold One (100) Units Saurus Knights x 5 (120) - Blade Saurus Knights x 5 (120) - Blade Saurus Knights x 5 (120) - Blade Chameleon Skinks x 5 (120) Behemoths War Machines Batallions Freelance Starhost (60) Total: 1000/1000 Or: Leaders Skink Starpriest (100) Saurus Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur (260) Units Saurus Knights x 5 (120) - Blade Saurus Knights x 5 (120) - Blade Saurus Knights x 5 (120) - Blade Salamanders x 3 (180) Skink Handlers x 3 (40) Behemoths War Machines Batallions Freelance Starhost (60) Total: 1000/1000 Depending on what models you have available. If just the starter box and an extra box of knights then: Leaders Skink Starpriest (100) Saurus Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur (260) Saurus Scar-Veteran on Cold One (100) Units Saurus Knights x 10 (240) - Blade Saurus Knights x 5 (120) - Blade Saurus Knights x 5 (120) - Blade Behemoths War Machines Batallions Freelance Starhost (60) Total: 1000/1000
So assuming i have a start collecting box and a Saurus Knights box, wouldn't that put me at 16 knights total ? Your list has 20 so I think I might be missing something here, lol And as the weapon choices, why blade ? I thought that the point of the Firelance Starhost is to double up on those 6 to wounds, am i right ?
Oops! Bad math and forgot to change the equipment type on the knights. Yes lances not blades. So 120 points left over. Get the chameleons! Haha!
