Re: Started Painting Today! Looking good. I noticed a little bit of molding lines on a few of your figures. I a little set of hobby files can fix those really easily. I especially like your Carnosaur.
Re: Started Painting Today! Alright, all! Here's my finished Carnosaur! I still have quite a lot of work to do on the base, and I have barely started the Saurus to ride him, but I'm pretty proud of the Carnosaur. What do you think?
Re: Started Painting Today! i'd reccomend a bone color for the stegadon helm on the skink chief. you can do this by painting it bleached bone, washing it with delvan mud, and then a drybrush of bleached bone.
Re: Started Painting Today! Thank you all. I'm hoping on getting someone who knows how to take photos real well to take some pictures of it.
Re: Started Painting Today! carnosaur is looking pretty tasty! I also paint my lizardmen green. I basecoat the skin and scales with dark angels green. Then i paint the skin snot green leaving the dark green in the recesses. And finally i highlight with goblin green. The scales are painted rotting flesh and then given a few washes of thakra green. (love the new washes!) don't know if thats any help at all? I was thinking of doing my skinks the same but with a scorpion green highlight instead of goblin green. And red crests!
Re: Started Painting Today! Nice work with the look of your army! Been really intrested in what happened with ur terries! got any new pics??
Re: Started Painting Today! Update: worked on my Skink Chief model a bit today. Check it out! I wanted to make the feathers look like they are from a Hyacinth Macaw, so I first painted over them with a coat of Mordian Blue. Then I drybrushed a layer of Ultramarines Blue, and finally, lightly topped it off with some Ice Blue. Then I applied a wash of Asurmen Blue ink. The collar is done with ivanden Darksun as a base coat, and then a layer of Sunburst Yellow, followed by a watered down Gryphonne Sepia ink wash. The inside lining I have painted Blood Red, and next i'm going to highlight it with some Blazing Orange and a wash of Baal Red. Anyways, hope you like 'em! More pics coming soon!
Re: Started Painting Today! I like...thinking maybe a bit of bone white dry brush on the feathers with a bit of blue ink? bring them out and more feathery but looks good just starting to get mine painted, starting a lizzy army as well
Re: Started Painting Today! UPDATE: Here's my completed Oldblood on Carnosaur! Oh, and here's a Skink:
Re: Started Painting Today! with a lot of details especially with your choise of different colours, your Carno turned out to be awsome! Congrats! How did you do that slime in the carnos mouth? Some kind of glue?
Re: Started Painting Today! Looks great. Don't forget to always refrigerate after opening a skink though.
Re: Started Painting Today! @ Aparach: Thanks, hombre. I think it turned out pretty good, considering that it's the first model I ever painted. The Carnosaur's slobber is actually made from plastic glue. @ Craken: Thanks. I'll have more room in my fridge for Skinks once I use up all the whoop-ass on my friend's DE army.
Re: Started Painting Today! have you thought about painting kroxigors or something really big like the new engine of the gods or a slann yet? Just thinking it because your skinks look epic and I was wondering if you could do something like that on one of the bigger models
Re: Started Painting Today! I actually have one of the 6th edition Kroxigors that I'm experimenting with. There's nothing really fabulous happening with it yet. I also have a 6th edition Stegadon that I'm going to use for a Mazdamundi conversion. My current plans are to finish my Skinks, as I have both chiefs done at the moment. I'll post some pictures once I get new batteries for my camera....
Re: Started Painting Today! Alright, I've done some work on my bases now, so I think I have the hang of it. Here's Kroq-Gar: And a detail of the little ruin: In case you're wondering, I painted it first with Dwarven Bronze, then with Shining Gold, then I applied a 1:1 mix of Vermin Brown and water, then a 1:2 mix of Gretchin Green and water, then some highlights of Burnished Gold. Here's some Skink Chiefs: And a Scar-Vet: Anyways, hope you like! I'm going to start polishing up my core unit troops before I tackle another big metal model, I think. I'm currently about half done all my Skinks. My Saurus are coming a little slower, as I had to cut off all their weapons and stick spears on. But now that that's done, it should be smooth sailing.
