    thanks :)

i guess the pink is a bit of an acquired taste. i stole it from starwars episode 2 (one of the beasts they are fighting in the Colosseum at the end).

and you miss my avatar? lol :D i just googled "lizardman" and took the first one that i found funny :D. this one feels more personal :p

EDIT: like this one better? :D

Yeah, at least now I can see the face better. But the old one made me chuckle daily.

Anyway, now I get where the pink is coming from...cool idea.

i agree that this cold one isnt the coolest one ever, but i truly hate the current LM cold ones (though you improved them slightly) and the DE ones feel a little bit too scrawny. they are very cool, but i see cold ones as stupid lumbering beasts. the DE cold ones doesnt look stupid or slow (i mean slow as in low initiative). so this was pretty much what was left. at least it does not have the godzilla head :D

Well I for one am very impressed, thanks for taking the time to explain your technique. Do you think GW Burnished Gold would be an adequate replacement for the Vallejo Glorious Gold?

yes, GW colors work well too, but i think vallejo has much better coverage. i would go 2 layers with GW colors.

Yeah, I just started using those tufts myself and I love them (see the base of my newest Sallie). I was always "pants" with static grass...

Where has this thread been all my life?

Some really inspiring work. I also don't like the crests and was going on a mission to find old Saurus but I think yours look awesome consider the idea stolen.

Re: The army of Tsunami (some Temple guards - 31/10)

    Time for a small update!

I have finished the first 5 of my (new) TG unit. One of them is missing a shield i know, dont worry ;)

I spent a bit more time on them than i do on my normal saurus warriors. They have more highlights and even some nice details like gems. To make them stand out as elites i chose to give them gold armour and weapons instead of the copper of the normal units. the skin color is slightly darker, though that was pretty much an accident. i can never remember how i did the skin color on the last batch of saurus, so they always look a bit different. let us call it natural variation in the spawning, hehe. I also distinguished them from the core by giving their weapons spikes made from some blue crystal or stone or whatever. looks cool anyway :p

I am planning on painting 20 of these guys as well as finishing up that damn hypnotoad... and the stegadon... and the rest of the saurus and a few more skinks.... and so on and so on :p

EDIT: naturally, i painted the crests to look like a part of the helmet rather than a part of the saurus head. i think it works nicely :)

Looks good! I like the spike-thingys, kind of looks like a lizardmen version of a big warhammer.
The bone and bases looks very nice as well.

the green of the saurus skin is knarlock green with black added in. then i added more and more bleached bone for highlights, and washed it with badab black.

the pink is USUALLY mechrite red with bleached bone added in for highlights and a wash with a mix of badab black and baal red. however, this time i had lent my mechrite red to a friend, so this is scab red instead. pretty similar results all over, but mechrite is slightly more yellowish.

The temple guard really looks good! Amazing work

Personally I really liked the color of the weapon spikes, as it makes them look more real according to the lore. (i.e. using some kind of stone for the sharp edge of the weapons).

If you don't mind me copying that, I would really love to hear what colors you used painting those.

    Thanks
