I'm mainly a Beastman player, but I'm considering switching to Lizards for 8th ed. In the meantime, I'll keep painting the army. To view the images in full size, right click the image and click view image. And here is a movement tray for the Temple Guard that I'm working on. Still a WIP.
Excellent quality. Are you using a white primer with blue washes for the base coat? That was going to be my plan for my base coats, though different colors. If so, the look is fantastic. I love the vines & leaves on the temple. Great stuff! Keep it coming, can't wait to see more!
No lords done yet, I will probably paint them last. The temple guard are sprayed white, just to try it out really. But they are painted the same as I painted the Saurus which were sprayed black. The skin is trollblood base -> trollblood highlight, with coal black shadows (P3 Paints). Thanks for the comments. Probably some pteranodons next.
Yea that simple orange and light blue scheme works surprisingly well, the autumn foliage on the bases is a great accent.
Great looking models! I agree with N810, the autumn bases provide a nice contrast to the blue lizardmen themselves.
Thanks Gojira. As previously mentioned, the colour scheme looks great. Maybe it's just the photo size, but I could have sworn it was a wash method with how smooth the transitions are. Fantastic work.
Very cool looking army so far! A movement tray for the TG though? With true line of sight you will want to be careful, they will be seen from almost anywhere and some people might complain about you having a mobile hill.
Great painting all around. I'm with strewart on the movement tray, though - it'll probably cause more problems than it solves. Still looks really cool though!
We all have an imagination though. The movement tray is for looks only. If there is a unit behind my templeguard, of course people can shoot at it. I won't be playing the movement tray as blocking line of sight. I'll be treating my unit as it it was ground level. 2 of my club members helped me with the layout for it, so I don't think they have a problem. So if anyone says, it's not fair, it blocks line of sight, I'll just tell them, it doesn't, you can see through it, go ahead. @ericb. If you need bigger versions just right click download. The forum is capping the size of my photos, so grab them for the full version without detail loss. Thanks again for all the comments guys.
Huge fan of the orange shields. Is that some sick blending technique you used? The colour really pops. Amazing stuff.
I don't use blending on my models, I use layering. The shields are actually pretty easy to do. Ember orange with a bloodtracker brown wash. Then, I paint each carapace on the shield with 3 more layers which are ember orange, then ember/sulphuric yellow mix, then 100% sulphuric yellow on the edge. I highlight in the direction of the sky as that is where the light is most likely coming from.
very nice looking. i personally HATE the standard blue saurus with red shields. your scheme is close to it, but some how far far away too. very refreshing. among the best looking lizzies on this forum imo. looking forward to updates
Really like the vivid colors you used for the blue and orange. Very cool. Also didn't realize the point of the holes till it was pointed out. Clever. Keep up the good work.
Here are some chameleons I've made seeing as I will probably auto include them in all my lists now. I dont like the metals one's prices and a friend suggested I cut off their crests. So I gave it a whirl. Hope you enjoy. Click the images for a larger version.
Wow. Love the unique look of the chameleons, very similar to skinks, and yet I could tell straight away that they were meant to be chameleons. I can't express how much I love your painting. No really, I can't. Bye. Love your work. I'm actually going this time. Any chance for an autograph?
Wow... That paint job is awesome. But they freak me out, somehow. Like they've had chemotherapy or something. I'll still try it for my chameleons, though (maybe with the bigger green-stuffed eyes). Phil
