Re: The Nexs-Files - [Need feedback re Slann] I don't see any concerns with it. Since the Slann is sitting 'Indian Style' it seems perfectly natural that his knees would hang over the edges.
Re: The Nexs-Files - [Need feedback re Slann] Not a bad problem at all. Just an observation. I would not worry about changing it. The overall look is great!
Re: The Nexs-Files - [Need feedback re Slann] I like the palanquin you have now. Definitely ties in with the rest of the movement tray and looks more befitting of the lizardmen .
Re: The Nexs-Files - [Need feedback re Slann] Thanks Favoured, Kblock and Ghost. Appreciated I've finished the glowing eyes now too, which i'm happy with. Now to wait for the next box of TG so that the unit looks completed!! In the meantime, I have a game VS Wood Elves tonight... Urgh... damn trueflight arrows
Re: The Nexs-Files - [Need feedback re Slann] I came to this topic by accident but i had to stay for a while and look at your work. This TG unit with Slann is astonishing! I don't like colours of Slann because i don't like too much gold (and i play with aztec themed army huh?) but everything there works well and crown was a nice idea. Good luck with those Elves!
Re: The Nexs-Files - [Need feedback re Slann] Thanks for your comment. Much appreciated. In regards to the slann, i've removed the crown and made the eyes glowing blue, so hopefully that breaks up the colours for you. Byt the brown is still there (themed off a Cane Toad). The crown was put on there simply because Mazdamundi has a crown, but seeing that i'd given up on Mazdamundi (point cost is a killer), I figured I'd remove it Re Wood Elves, thanks! Unfortunately we only got 2 turns in due to a combination of setting up time spent, my opponent needing to check rules (she hadn't played fantasy in a while and didn't know her book inside and out haha, I didn't mind too much). I didn't read up on wild riders before the game and they surprised me. THey got a very very long charge off and killed chammos, and i let them charge me not knowing they're frenzied with devastating charge, strength4 with spears. A very, very good unit. I won, because i killed the wild riders, and she only killed a unit of chammos. But there was much left to do. We will try and play it through on a weekend some time!
Re: The Nexs-Files - [Need feedback re Slann] Time for an update. Slann glowing eyes completed WIP Temple guard character. I am thinking of kitting him up some bone adormnents and trophies. Made from Carno kit pieces and Chakax's body. Any ideas/advice is always welcome and appreciated!
Re: The Nexs-Files - [Slann Eyes, Saurus Character] Very nice kitbash! Can't wait to see him painted.
Re: The Nexs-Files - [Slann Eyes, Saurus Character] There's going to be quite a bit of converting before I'm done!
Re: The Nexs-Files - [Slann Eyes, Saurus Character] I've not been lazy, i've been converting this bad boy up. I promise. Not long before he's done and painting can begin! I'm also waiting on some skink pieces to come in the mail. Man I hate painting skinks...
Re: The Nexs-Files - [Slann Eyes, Saurus Character] Skinks may be more annoying than Saurus, but they are a whole lot easier and better than Lothern Seaguard, or any other High Elf infantry for that matter.
Re: The Nexs-Files - [Slann Eyes, Saurus Character] Are you saying they're better and easier to paint than high elf infantry? In which case, you are right! Otherwise, you are wrong! haha
Re: The Nexs-Files - [Slann Eyes, Saurus Character] OK, I have a few updated pictures of the old blood. The photos aren't great, so I apologise, but you get the idea of how he's going to look, and i have to greenstuff some rope around the tusks on the shield. Also note the Piranha blade. EDIT: also, i have done more work on the tail piece, but it's still not finished yet
Re: The Nexs-Files - [Oldblood & Piranha Blade] I really like that Piranha Blade! And the whole conversion in general. What is it... Chakax, Oldblood bits from the Carnosaur, Temple Guard skull and green stuff for flavor?
Re: The Nexs-Files - [Oldblood & Piranha Blade] Got it in one, Pete! I also added a Saurus shoulderpad on the upper leg for good measure. I extended the temple guard helm out a bit, over the oldblood's crest. I shaved off the designs from chakax's sash because I wanted this guy to be as far from chakax, visually, as I can get him. The Piranha Blade is made from the carno hand weapon, 2 saurus hand weapons, lots of greenstuff and a great deal of patience! Seeing that I'm undecided whether this guy will be wielding the Piranha blade or the Blade of Realities, it's both... for now. Until I've tested my list rebuild to accomodate the Blade of Realities (This guy is a Slann bodyguard and designed to take out challengers, but in the last battle he stood swinging at a high elf prince on a dragon for three damned turns while taking but a single wound (from a freaking SKINK CREWMAN of bastiladon. I was less than impressed), I'm not sure if i'm going to magnetise the weapon or not.
Re: The Nexs-Files - [Slann Eyes, Saurus Character] I definitely meant painting. In regard to the conversion, looking great! Makes me wish I had the skill to make more than lumpy snakes out of clay.
Re: The Nexs-Files - [Update on Oldblood w/Piranha Blade] So.... updates! Oldblood is nearly done, I'll photograph him when completed. But I'm showing my skirmishers as finished. might do some highlights on the shields if i'm feeling particularly generous... Champion Partially submerged dude w/swamp tuft/sprout I eventually want to make a skirmish tray that fits these guys exactly, base theme and all. but no time for that... I have a tournament in a month, and i want the whole army painted!!
Re: The Nexs-Files - [Skink Skirmishers in a marsh] Skirmish trays would look sweet. I've been meaning to make a few myself. I get to it eventually... probably... some day. Good luck with getting everything ready for the tournament.
Re: The Nexs-Files - [Skink Skirmishers in a marsh] Thanks mate, it should be a gooden! Hopefully the oldblood will chew through things nice and happily!
