Yes, I used Martian Ironearth rather than the Agrellen Earth from the tutorials. I figured it's slightly red tone would fit better with the lava underneath. Then a heavy black drybrush. Once I've completed this round of mass base production to confirm the theory I'll write a tutorial myself. This way seems quicker than other merhods I've seen.

Awesome work on both the led and the bases indeed. I'm really, really interested in the lava method ;)
So what colour scheme did you choose for your little reptilian friends?

    Thanks. :)
I'm thinking about a starfield design on the flesh and a mix of red, blue, purple and maybe green on the scales. But I'm worried that the skin may be to small to not look just messy. :/

Well maybe on the smaller creatures yeah.. Give it one try on a saurus I guess. Btw what material did you use on the carnosaur's base? Looks like some kind of wood..

    Cork.
You can buy it in various forms, I tend to get the round boards that supermarkets sell to place saucepans on. :)

I got some more work done on base coats this evening, including following @Toltecatl's advice on trying the starfield on a smaller model (Saurus Warrior Alpha). I'm pretty pleased with how things are looking now, although you can hardly be, sadly the image is not very focussed. I'll do better next time. :)

Now the reason for a couple of days delay was our son needing a costume for his nursery's fancy dress day (Karneval here in Norway). This little troll was super pleased with his outfit, the most advance sewing effort I've ever undertaken (my wife attached the head, from a stuffed toy).

The carnosaur sitting on your lap like a good boy :p
Nice contrast between the black and gold of the rider
One question. Do you paint it with the led on?:D

I painted in better light yesterday evening, that allowed me to paint a little more accuretly. The difference was huge and now I'm sure it'll work. Once I've done this unit of Saurus and the Carnosaur I'll be coming back here for more colour advice. :)

It is still winter in Norway. The only light they get is from magical gauntlets.

Its about 10pm in my part of Australustria and 25 degrees, but at 83% humidity that is almost drip with sweat while sitting still temp. Better than the 34 degrees at 1pm, I suppose. If I had sent my kids to school today with furry troll feet, I would need to wring them out now.

Doesn't sound comfetable, but a great way to capture that troll like stench.

I'd take a super hot summer day over a freezing cold winter day without a moment's hesitation!
