I cannot believe Notre Dame is burning. And crumbling. That's a tragedy. An 850 year old building that will probably be gone completely the way it looks.
It seems the main structure can be saved at least, and they got most of the valuable stuff out in time. Still sad, and will take a lot of money and time to rebuild.
It is, obviously, a tragedy. but it's not the first time in its history that it passes through substantial changes. IN all its life the cathedral went thoruogh several reconstructions, each one with loss of old elements and the introductions of new ones. (each time with debates). It will take time, but Notre Dame will come back.
The structure should hopefully be quite well documented too, so they should at least not have too much trouble designwise to get it back to how it was. It’s still pretty awful though.
