Started as an interim project to spice up the painting desk in between lizards.

    That's right, aelves are spicy.

@Crowsfoot , I'm spending an hour per Miniature at least with this project, just for you.

I think that's just the light. The second picture was either taken with a flash or he switched a lamp on.

    I quite like the model!

Alright guys, this blog is transitioning.

It will mainly host my new 6mm elven legion army, with the occasional 28mm elf thrown in for zest.

The tiny elves are coming. You have been warned.

Greetings all, and welcome to my review of the irregular 6mm high elf army pack. I'm going to break down this quick review down into 3 parts; namely value, quality, and details, with a final note on my personal feelings.

    1. Value:

Right away the value is there in this set. I got $18.2 gbp worth of elves for $16 gbp. While not a massive sum, it does add up.

Furthermore, the shipping only took 7 days total to make it from England. That's crazy fast for across the sea.

    2. Quality: I'm not going to lie, the cast quality on these dudes is median, although that might be down to extremely small detail being hard to work with. I personally think it provides a challenge.

Very few figures have flash, and even that is easy to remove. I had one issue quality wise and that was an errant hair stuck in a stand of cavalry.

Other than these two, things are fairly quickly getting back to normal.

    3. The casting quality and drive to be motivated in what you find fun.

    Personal notes:

I like them, I'm going to experiment with irregular Miniatures other fantsy stuff to see if I can find light cav, war machines, and others. I really like the archers, and wish there were spearmen instead of sword and shield. Perhaps it is the pictures and/or the casting quality, but those look like lumps of metal to me.
Never been a fan of such small models, you just can't really see the details on them.

On the plus side: You can build huge armies of those.

Exactly. I like the mass idea, hence this experiment.

First 30 archers to tabletop quality.

Those pictures are quite a bit out of focus unfortunately.
Try putting a white sheet of paper or something like that behind the models to help the camera focus.

Wow. And this time it isn't meant as positively as when I usually say it.
I think it has not much to do with how you painted them, more with the sculpts itself.
IMO those went from being ugly lumps of metal to being ugly lumps of metal with paint on them.

They are just too small to fulfill my cravings for details I guess. :)

If I had a decent camera, I would take macro close ups. They are less detailed, but you still see chainmail armor and the cloaks have slight folds

I guess these are still old handsculpted minis... so no wonder that they lack some detail we're used to find on our usual miniatures ... whom I strongly suspect to be made digitally...

But nice force you have there @Lord-Marcus

Thank you. Microworld has cad sculpted high elves in the eventual pipeline. I may add some if the price is right.

Meanwhile.... 60 elf swordsmen done. Testing out unit setups. IMG_20171118_074305345.jpg IMG_20171118_074333577.jpg
