I've done a test run on a banner and a shield so far, and I'll try to get some photos of those up later next week!

Thanks! Well, I want them to stand out and my attempts at drybrushing did not meet the estetic I was going for, so... It'll be a massive sinkhole regarding effort and time, yes, but overall it is more important that I am pleased with the final product! :)

I agree and I'm getting to that junction myself.

Yes indeed! But that much effort per basic model will certainly get noticed ! I’ve gone for ‘easy’ ;D

I added a shade of Biel-Tan Green to the scales, and then I painted the spikes in two layers of Ushabti Bone (and I see, now that it is close up, that I should've gone a bit further down on the spikes with the Ushabti Bone). You live and you learn! I'll shade the spikes with Agrax Earthshade before I crack on with the ornaments on top of them.

This is the test shield I did, and I am quite pleased with it, if I may say so myself. Next time I think I'll try to get it more into the small crevices and nooks with the Nihilakh Oxide though, rather than just slapping it on and then drying it off with a paper towel.

And here is the test on the banner that I also did, just to get more of a feel for the effect.

I am thinking that this particular spawning has been in a deep slumber, awaiting the command from the Slaan to go to war once more and thus their armour and weapons began to age. I am considering using a light blue colour on glyphs/signs later on, to make them stand out a little more. But I guess that won't come up until I assemble a Slaan or perhaps a Stegadon.

The Nihilakh Oxide really makes the gold look great!

Thank you! :) I picked up the Nihilakh Oxide a couple of months ago, after seeing a tutorial on Warhammer TV. I never got around to using it until now though, since I got to experimenting with the jade effect first.
