Hey guys! So after quite some time i´ve decided that i need to get my LM painted up. So here are my first Saurus warriors that i used to get the general feel of what im going for. There are a few things still left. Still need to gloss coat and dull coat them and also add flock do the bases for that overgrown temple feel. Also butting a gloss coat yet again but only over the crystal and eyes. I think the choice of colors might need some explanation. I've based it on some fluff that im also working on. The main idea is that the tribe have come across this crystal. The crystal are draining their colors away and the older they get the whiter they will become. But the slaan think this is one of the keys needed to contact with the old ones again. Therefor the crystal is considered holy. The crystal is used for everything from fetishes, jewelry to the weapons used by the warriors. This paleness is also seen as a blessing from the old ones. That is the basic idea that i have for the moment i might work on it more as i go along. Saurus: So guys let me know what you think if my fluff/colors and so on. Im not trying to go past what i call a tabletop standard. //Byakhee
prety kool, I was thinking after mat coat everything, go back and brush on some gloss on the crystals to realy make them look awesome.
I'd say those are some pretty rad looking saurus warriors. I like it. Crystal spear points looks great!
Looking really good. The have an almost camouflaged look on the bases with the crystals making them stand out.
Thank you, kind sirs! Yes i have been thinking about the bases. I might put a wash of ogryn fresh over the base to tone it down and make it slightly more red. By that i hope to make the saurus look more pale in comparison and stand out more.
That's one amazing color scheme you got there! Really solid work and unique (which I appreciate very much). I like that your Saurus has nearly the same colors as the stones under their legs. Really nice work, I can't wait to see more!
Could you post some better pics of those bases? They look great! Did you sculpt them yourself or are they a commercial base? Thanks!
Big thanks to all of you! Well the bases are from a website called tabletop art and there is a link to their site with the bases that i use. Overall they make some really good looking bases and i have not really had any problem with them so far. http://www.tabletop-art.de/Lizard-City_2 Right now im working on finishing my Carnisaur. Im trying out something new with the scales and im not sure about it so i might just show some pitctures of it to you and alsk about your opininon on it.
Really cool looking Warriors! I especially like the subtle changes in the colours of the scales, and the crystal weapons look superb. The fluff is fun, too. I'm eagerly waiting what you come up for the Carnosaur. Good luck with your painting!
Re: Tribe of the sacred crystal *Carnisaur update "17/10-13" I have finished my carnisaur but it lacks that popping color so i might repaint the scales and make the green more vivid in the highlights. Thanks for viewing!
Great job on the spear, and yea if you want the scales to pop more, go over them with a bright green highlight or dry brush.
Those are some very nice looking Saurus and Carnosaur. Would you mind explaining the colors and how you went about painiting your figures? Thanks,
Thank you guys for your comments! So i redid the scales on the Carnisaur and it turned out a lot better. Still got a little bit of variation of the scales and got the highlights going so it stands out more and look a lot better. thanks for watching
@ Gamergeek: Thanks for asking! There will be an update soon, im working on my Slaan right now so he is getting the full treatment. Im also trying out a new technique on the slaan so it takes a little extra time. I want him to stand out on the army and still be coherent with it. He just gets that extra bit of love for my general. Oh and i will also post the paint that i used for my saurus when i get home. So i hope to finish it up this week. Might not have gotten the new bases but ill show you what ive got when it is all done. Im planning on panting up some Temple guard when im done with my Slaan. It will look nicer when the Slaan have got a few painted buddies to escort him. Since i dread getting burned out with painting i have made a plan on how i will paint my army. I will mix my rank and file troops with heroes and Lords to make it more fun. Its never fun to just paint rank and file troops and to do them all in one go is really not recommended. So by painting 10 troops then a hero and then starting over i think i will be easier for me to keep painting. What do you guys do to prevent yourself from getting burned out?
Looking forward to the update and hearing about what colors you used for your figures. As far as helping to keep the painting going, I break up the large chunks of rank-n-file with fun stuff like characters, monsters, war machines, chariots, etc. Anything that is really just different helps a lot.
