What color are dead Chameleon Skinks. Are they frozen in their last transformation? Do they keep changing colors for a few hours/days/forever? Do they revert to a "normal" LM coloration (if the normal Skinks are yellow they would go yellow, if green then green?"

Do they change colors when they sleep or get knocked unconscious? Do their color changing powers go amok when they lose control of their emotions or get intoxicated?

I think Axolotyl might be able to help us with this one most, but I'm open to any and all feedback.

Chameleons change colors when they dream. I'm pretty sure death ends color changing.

But if death ends color changing would they be frozen I their last change or would they shift back to a default color of some sort?

    Not happening.....

Generally a pasty grey or brown, colour changing is a living reaction due to blood been flushed through one of many layers of skin, some varieties have four some have up to six. The layers of skin contain specialised cells called chromatophores, different chromatophores contain different colours, so as blood flashes through them different colours are triggered, in a nut shell no blood, no colour....

However as any reptile decomposes the gall bladder will often burst and the resultant uric acid and bile will stain the gut area a black color.

    Aww, come on!

As someone working on Skink zombies I will keep both those things in mind.
