Great work! I especially like the Slann's eyes - they really pop. I have one of those models that badly needs a repaint - I may borrow some of your ideas. I think you adapted the skink very well, but I have another idea that might work. Games Workshop sells Bitz packs, including a Young Dragons pack. Either of the top dragons might work well as the Slann's "pet" who provides his attack. I especially like the one in the top right - with its wings folded together, it could easily be made to look like a young salamander. Its hard to be sure of the size, but it looks like they are on 20 mm bases, so they should fit as well as the skink. GW also sells a Famous Familiars bitz pack which includes a small dragon/lizard/dinosaur that might work.
First of all: thank you for still following this thread... Today I finally finished my slann! I didn't do a few thing I wanted to, but I just wanted to be done with the guy. Sometime later, I'll probably add a bow (thanks Craken) and the promised skink musician. That's why I left the front left quarter of the base relatively free. But now: BEHOLD! THE SLANN: ...and the two lizards: Please, tell me what you think, I'd love to hear your comments, they have all been helpful so far.
Thank you all for your nice comments, that really encourages me to paint my temple guard! And in case anyone else is still interested in my greek armor, I finally completed it and posted pics here: http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/building-an-ancient-greek-armor-now-also-for-lizardmen.4058/
WOW... i can't belive that! I freaking envy you for having patience enough to make such an artwork. i would prolly just colored him casual an then play.
Thank you Actually I don't have the chance to play often and I've got another Slann, so that explains my patience a little. Also this slann was one of the first models I ever painted (like 15 years ago) and looked like that. I always wanted to re-paint him and thought: why not mount him on a flying palanquin like his modern frog-mates?
Gotta tell you, I love what you did! I am always afraid to go out there with colorful colors but you did an awesome job with them! I love the old Slann model and I love even more what you did with him
