Variety of terradon models

I'm not sure if this is the right part of the forum, but here goes.
I've been expanding my collection of older models recently and am trying to figure out what figures exist from different eras of the Lizardmen's evolution. Does anyone know of a good comprehensive online reference to the different models that have been produced over the years?
I'm specifically interested in the types of terradons as I'm thinking to putting together a largely flying scout army and want more variety than just the modern plastic terradons, which I don't think are as nice as the older ones with the swept back wings. So do those of you who have been collecting for longer than I have know how many different models have there been over the years, and so how many different types of flyer are out there?

There where, I believe 4 generations of terradons models,
5th, 6th, 7th, & 8th. they weren't part of the army before that.
(Lizardmen where mostly just Slan before that)

Those 5th edition ones are awful... not a fan of the 7th edition ones either.

 

Seems like I have a single 6th edition Terradon, and I thought it was a 7th.

 

yea, 7th are actually my least favorite, there is another different head for the 5th edition ones, I'm trying to find a picture it.

 

I think I have 4 of the 6th edition ones lying around. They're decent models, but nowhere near as good as the current plastics in my opinion.

 

Agreed, the current plastic Terries are Amazing.

 

The 6'th edition ones are horrifying, they genuinely remind me of tyranids. Somebody should try doing a conversion there, would make for great harpies.

 

Oh, yeah. I can't stand those 7th ed ones. Especially the one with the tail sticking straight out the back. Doah! (They kinda look like they have buck-teeth as well!)

 

The heads and faces on those models are simply terrible. Funny how the model was updated with a worse sculpt than the one that preceded it.

 

I will do a question that has nothing to do with this topic...
When I see old saurus, they come from the 5th or 6th; these Terradons come from 5th, 6th 7th and 8th... But the edition between the first and the fourth???
I haven't ever seen a lizardmen of these editions... What did GW do at this time? Are these models fallen in a black hole???

Argh! silly me, I meant the 7'th edition models looked like tyranids. Don't really mind the 6'th edition ones.

Before 5'th edition, the Lizardmen were basically made up of Slann, Slann cavalry, Slann infantry, slann everything.

 

That makes more sense, I was a bit confused for a moment. The 6th edition models aren't too shabby.

 

I have tow of the fifth edition. The one on the left and the one in the middle. Didn't like them much when buying or lets say was disappointed that days. Now I like them more for some nostalgic reasons.
Still don't like the second rider. Use them as additional skins with my salamander.
Think that the 6th edition looks a bit better. Don't like the other editions so much.

 

What about the current edition? Those are some pretty spiffy models!

 

They are good models and some people can really make something out of them. I don't like the wings so 100%. For me they are on second place together with 5th edition. 7th I really don't like.

 

The sculptor of those must have had a brain fart or something.

My order from favourite to least favourite goes like this...

1. Current Edition
2. 6th Edition
3. 7th Edition
4. 5th Edition

 

I actually like the 5th edition ones.... Current edition ones are by far the best though. The only 7th edition one I liked was tiqtaq'to, and that was for the skink not the mount!

 

I think that the 5th edition Terradon aren't really bad, they are good from a collecting point of view...
The 6th are good...
I don't like the 7th... the head and the paws are really ugly...
As in almost all new models, the Terradons of the 8th are bigger and more detailed than the other editions. I like them.

It's that stupid grin the terradon has that really kills the model for me.
