Morning all! I threw together a name generator for 8th edition 40k yesterday and decided to stick the code to good use and put together an updated name generator for our beloved lizards. https://ritualminiatures.com/lizardmen-name-generator The issue I am facing is lack of source material - I could do with as many lizard names as you can come up with so I can dissect them into parts and hopefully have the generator coming up with something borderline useful. If anyone knows of any resources for naming conventions, that would also help.
I don't know how sophisticated it needs to be but maybe go through the Saurian language thread and pick some words for first part of the name and some words for last part of the name I have a personal preference to keep Saurus, Skink, and Kroxigor names under three syllables, but I don't have a problem with longer Slann names up to a point.
LOVE this Lizard names tend to either be faux-mayan, with lots of Xs, Zs, Qs, TLs, apostrophes etc, or they are faux-spanish, like Mazdamundi. The best ones are the pun names - see if you can work some into the generator!
I used that to jump start some of my Story Contest name choosing; here is a list I saved off: Tenqli of Tlaxtlan Loqotta of Nahuontl Loqinzi of Xahutec Gorli of Lake Capac Tzazlat of Cuexotl Cuaqinzi of the Smoking Caverns of Sotek Conquakai of the Sulpheret Islands Tlaxboq of the Bridge of the Stars Ankha-adohi of Lake Incatol Mazda-ec of Hexoatl Ottakrox of Quetza Xlquet of Pahuax Goqgor of Cuexotl Tehekai of Lustria Tehetlax of Itza Conquamazda of the Blood Pyramid Tenqtehe of the Monument of the Moon Goqtza of the River Amaxon Mundichi of the Temple-Avenue of Gold Tepconqua of the Sulpheret Islands Gorcuaq of the Sulpheret Islands Xholmazda of the Bridge of the Stars Tepxl of the Temple-Avenue of Gold Zlatgar of the Temple of Skulls Boquax of the River Amaxon Kaicuaq of Cuexotl Titlax of Tlanxla Itzatoc of the World Pond Gorconqua of the Monument of the Sun Adohimazda of the Tomb of Gold Tigor of Tlanxla Quetxl of Zlatlan Lichi of Chaqua Tza-adohi of Quetza Chiccec of Tlanxla Tzamundi of Tlanxla Zlat-tenq of Chupayotl Xluax of Xahutec Goradohi of the Tomb of Gold Mundichicc of the Monument of the Moon Tixl of Xlanhuapec Tocotta of the Temple of Skulls Ankhaconqua of Xhotl Tlaxitza of the Serpent's Tongue Oatlgar of Chotec's Causeway Chi-otta of Xuhua Lake Itzaloq of Nahuontl Tepuax of Cathay Quetcuaq of Huatl Inzikai of Lake Capac Ottatza of the Serpent's Tongue Zlatxl of the Southlands Cuaqli of Axlotl Tenqhui of the Tomb of Gold Cuaqoatl of the Monument of the Sun Uaxgor of Huatl Hexzlat of Oyxl Ankhakai of the Golden Tower of the God These ^ may appear in future stories. I don't remember where the link to it is. Seems like it was accessed via the wayback machine webpage. (Would it be illegal? IP violation..? to preserve a copy of it here at LustriaOnline?) ***Wanders off to search for link.*** @Ritual :: found it. I bet @n810 has posted it more than once... ===> http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/naming-your-lizardmen.1464/#post-45621
Thanks for the feedback guys, I have added some more name segments in so there should be a reasonably large variety in there now.
I like the idea of naming a character ______ of the ______. I do not think it should be randomized. Whether you are creating stories or army fluff, you should probably deliberately decide what your character is of the of.
It'd be easy enough to add in a suffix in a non-intrusive manner. Can always ignore it if you didn't want to make use of it...
